Question about Neff Dishwashers

1 Answer

The dishwasher is not letting water in....it sounds like the pump is trying as per normal, but no water is coming in. it is very difficult to pull the dishwasher out to check the water tap, however, tap is on and was working last night. is there a check that i can do within the dishwasher that i do not need to haul it out from the worksurface? i do not have the model, but it is 8 years old, integrated.

Suspect you can hear the drain pump running and the reason is that there is water in the bottom tray - ie you have a leak.
for a tempory repair, remove the kick plate at the bottom front and mop out the water from the bottom tray then see if appliance operates.
then find the leak!!

It doesn't sound like the dishwasher jet arms are spraying water and the dishsoap was still on door at end of cycle.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description and provided the dishwasher is indeed 1) an Asko D1716 and 2) filling with water, draining, heating, but not circulating, It sounds like a busted wash impeller within the main motor/circulation pump, unfortunately.

First though, do you hear a quiet sound of a motor starting once the unit has completed filling with water ? And be sure the unit is actually filling with water, this image below indicates the normal water level to look for....

macmarkus_284.jpg

The pump obviously it will be super quiet if the wash impeller is broke as I suspect it may be...almost like a fountain, since the Asko are very quiet under normal conditions. You will have to either get right down with your ear to the bottom or run it with the door open by activating the door switch with a screw-driver and look for visual/audible clues.

If so that is a tell tale of no wash action yet the motor runs, hence broken impeller. If you don't hear anything it may be a wire come off the main motor/circulation pump...but not likely.

This unfortunately is common with Asko built dishwasher`s and it is a case of being a victim of their own design.

What happens typically is the ball-bearings from the upper rack holders ( which are plastic, hence fatigues due to heat and fall apart ) come out making their way into the sump, hence breaking the wash impeller from the motor.

Let me know what you find and I'll try and help you move forward from there. If you need direction to remove the circulation motor and pump I can do that, but it is a pretty involved repair and requires pulling the unit from the cabinet...you may opt to call in a pro.

I'll watch for your reply.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

When i switch the dishwasher on it pumps out the remaining water as per usual but then fails to let in new water. what could be the problem. i have checked the filters, water supply and pipes. all are ok.

Little complex for quick diagnosis. Firstly., does water try and come in for a short period or not? If it does, then your electronic water pulsator(counter) is faulty. Needs replacement. If no water comes in at all, you either have a leak in the sump, or the inlet water valve is the problem.(valve very seldom goes faulty, but not impossible)..find where the leak is.

Drain pump running when unit starts but no water to appliance

The machine probably has water in the base (not visibly in the machine, but in the base where the conponents are). Pull the machine out, sit the front on a large towel and holding the back of the d/w pull it towards you. Any water trapped in the base will drain out. It may be a fair amount as the flood safety switch will activate on approx 1.5 ltrs. Once you've cleared the water run a prewash or quickwash to check d/w. Hope this helps.

Problem with ASKO 1385 dishwasher. Unit has manual cycle knob, not electronic. Clock/timer seems to work normally but no water is pumped in and a motor runs continually throughout cycle, even during...

CHECK THAT THE WATER IS ON TO THE UNIT, AND IF VOLTAGE IS AT WATER INLET VALVE. IF VOLTAGE THEN WATER SHOULD BE COMING IN EITHER BAD INLET VALVE OF CLOGGED SCREEN IF THERE IS VOLTAGE TO VALVE. NO VOLTAGE THEN CONNECTIONS OR TIMER WOULD BE NEXT.

Green light flasing, sounds like pump working but on occasion takes time to let water through

I had the same problem. Foundd the solution here. Try pressing normal wash, heated dry, normalwash heated dry, several times. All the buttons should come on then it should start working.

My Bosch dishwasher sounds like it is running but does not clean the dishes.

check bottom of dishwasher screens for any blockages or obstruction preventing water from getting into pump. may need a wet vac to **** water out of pump and use a small mirror to inspect pump openings. if no obstruction, the pump impellor maybe broken. replacing the impellor is fairly difficult. the dishwasher has to be pulled from under the counter. repost if you further questions.

Dishwasher not draining

It does sound like a clogged pipe what I would suggest is that you first remove the filter inside the unit and then take the drain hose where it joins the sik out let and blow on it to try and force the clog back into the machine then you should be able to see what the clog was and remove ,replace filter and set to drain let it drain and then use as normall,if the pipe is clear then there is an obstruction in the pump impeelar houseing itself in wich case you need to pull the unit out and remove the bottom panell and locate the pump (the small unit that is attached to the drain hose) remove both pipes and then the pump and visually inspect then feel it if you need to (be catefull there could be a sharp object stuck in there) and if there is anything remove it and replace the pump and pipes, hope this helps let us know if there are any further problems or if you came right.

Dishwasher does not drain

My dishwasher will not drain. The water stays in the bottom of the dishwasher. When it should drain, I do not hear anything happening where I used to hear the pump working. Is my pump bad?

Whirlpool Sound During Drain

Yes, you can pull one of the pump's leads to find whether the noise comes from the pump. You should unplug machine's power cable first and be sure that the disconnected wire is isolated. Before replacing the pump look that it clean from any foreign object/ Good luck!
