Thanks.. my laptop is inspiron 1521.i thought i bought it with built in webcam n mic.webcam is ok.i can hear them but they cant hear me. i tried adjusting my mic.comp says its ok but when i try to chat again,they still cant hear me.what was wrong?

i want to see my screen display normal ..

Firstly, what Operating System came with you Inspiron 1521? It's either Windows XP or Windows Vista, my guess would be that it has Windows Vista (If you've not replaced the Operating System since you purchased it).

I would imagine that if it's not something simple like the volume of the mic being set to zero or muted, then it could be an issue with the drivers.

If you are running Vista, your best bet is to download the following drivers

Although it's listed as Intergrated Webcam, your microphone would be part of your built in webcam, so with any luck, installing the drivers from the link above should solve your problem.

probably the sound driver ...also check out the settings on the volumes panel ...maybe the devise isnt active ..or its muted...

DOWNLOAD NEW DRIVER FOR IT ,,GO TO THE DELL DRIVERS SITE

On the speaker icon on bottom taskbar, right click on it, go to the properties or volume control and than you can adjust MIC input volume.

Check your sound settings, the settings of the software that you're using or might as well uninstall and reinstall the sound driver.

Your laptop should have an inbuilt mic. You can check in the volume control properties to see if the mic is muted.

You can check that by double clicking the volume icon on the bottom right of the screen

I had thesame problem on a brand-new Dell laptop. The solution is to intall IDT STAC9228 Audio Driver (file R204473.exe), which can be downloaded from Dell web site (http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R204473.EXE). This solved my problem with not having mic when using Skype.
