Question about Samsung HLP4663W 46" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Dark greys appear a dull green.

I recently replaced the color wheel in my DLP and now all of the dark greys appear a dull green color. This still occurs when I desaturate the picture. (Black and White)

Could be a jumper that needs to be removed on the DMD board, or a setting in the factory mode, mute-182-power will get you in there

Samsung dlp the picture is all shadows with dark green/black colors after replacing with new color wheel..what is wrong? Is it a bad color wheel?

no you need to adjust the color wheel to factory specs by getting into the service software. The color wheel has to be timed to the engine.

I have a RCA HD61LPW42 . I recently replaced the lamp but there seems to be a dull/dark spot on the TV screen where the color is always a dingy brown. when I replaced the bulb I noticed that it had...

Most likely you also have a bad Optical Block assembly. Do to the cost of the part, I would not invest the money to replace it. The Lamp failing would not cause this to happen.
I hope this helps,

Dark scenes are impossible to see

This is a fundamental limit of Ti DLP. The part can not reproduce low grey scale, so low light film is dominated by artifacts. It helps to sit farther away from the screen. The color shift is caused by a factory tollerance on the color wheel, but there is no user adjustment for it.

Color wheel replacement

With the back off of the unit, you are looking at a silver can on the light engine. The is the board where the DLP IC is located. There is a large heat sink right in the middle. Near that heat sink you will find a small square cut out where two pins protrude from the inner bd. There is a small black piece across those two pins, that is the jumper. With a needle nose slide that black jumper off of the two pins. Normally if the color wheel is changed and the jumper not remove the picture is very poor with ugly green and purple negative look.
