put that cartridge in and perform a head cleaning process, and allignment... follow the procedure (2 or 3 times if needed) and in the end, shut down the printer, disconnect usb cable (both end), then wait for some time, aprox. 20 sec. and then put both end in again, turn printer on and wait for ready signal or some sort of confirmation that all is ok... If not, replace or update the printer driver and software, or reinstall all printer software.
If the cartridge you are installing is a refilled/remanufactured cartridge it may be that you need to indicate to the printer that it is a used cartridge and not a new one upon installation. This is because the cartridge works on a basis of counting pages and calculating page coverage to estimate how full it is. It has no way of telling that it has been refilled and can indicate to the printer that it is running low and needs replacing.
This message could however be the result of something as simple as the printer not being able to recognise the cartridge. In which case I would recommend wiping the contacts on the cartridge with a piece of kitchen tissue and re-installing. if this fails to helps I would recommend replacing the ink cartridge.
Hi Alan I think it is the cartridge that is causing your issue but I cant promise that it is.I can tell you from many years experience it very rarely is an issue with the printer breaking it is 99% of the time inferior consumables causing printers to fail, and sometimes wrecking printers so even when the customer does use good consumables it is too late and the damage is done, but we can't be sure of anything unless we start with basics and get 100% brand new Original Equipment Manufacturers carts (OEM) and stick them in. (no I don't work for Lexmark;)
Hi Don;t worry my friends we are here to solve your problem, Basically that problem is came when your cartridge is low or not fix the properly, Switch off your printer and plug out the power code,open the front side cartridge door, pull the cartridge and check the cartridge level, if the level in low then change the cartridge and put eh new cartridge.
This error message appears on the printer screen when the printer thinks
the wrong toner cartridge is installed. To clear it or identify a
service requirement, follow the steps below. NOTE: If you succeed in resolving the problem at any stage during the procedure, you not need to perform the remaining steps.
Open the top front cover of the printer. If the display DOES NOT read Close cover or Insert cartridge, the 32 error is not caused by the toner cartridge and printer service will be required to fix the problem.
Make sure the correct toner cartridge is installed for this printer model.
Check Lexmark for a list of compatible cartridges for your printer.
If the wrong toner cartridge is installed, remove it and install the correct one.

That definitely sounds like the cartridge isn't registering properly. I would take the cartridge back to where you bought it and ask them to exchange it with a new one. This can happen from time to time.
