The keyboard locked up; the keyboard works before it boots windows but after windows vista is loaded whenever you try to type anything, it just makes a noise in the speaker
-   hi guys, when i start the system the mouse curser is moving in hp520 laptop once it ask for ctrl+alt+del ,after i press any keythe keypad is totally hangs out. i dont no the how to unlock the key pad-   bharani_s13
Sounds like an Earthing problem. I would remove keyboard and re seat the cable, try again. If the problem persists then i would replace the keyboard. Another thing you could try is install the keyboard drivers from the maker model site etc. Example, you need [function], [fn] keys to work and they usually need drivers that may not be included in Vista. I was writing a dvd when the laptop went to sleep. Ever since the drive got stuck in that process it began making a strange sound (like it was stuck) and now wont read any discs. Windows pops up a message to insert a disc but the drive is powering up and spinning but you can hear it struggle trying to read and eventually gives up.
i don't know if the drive was physically damaged but is there a software diagnostic tool you can recommend that will help me test it fully? what about a firmware update, will that help reset the drive?
