Dear Customer,
The agitator's movement back and forth is important for the cleaning of your laundry. To remove your spin drum, you will have to remove the agitator.
The agitator is fastened to the agitator shaft and its movement is driven either by splines or a simple clutch assembly. The splines are usually plastic or rubber nubs on a cylinder that fits over the agitator shaft. If the nubs wear down, the shaft will not turn properly or it will turn weakly.
Various makes and models differ in how the agitator is removed. In some newer models, the agitator just lifts straight up and out. However, in most models you will have to do some combination of the following steps. First remove the fabric softener dispenser, if any. It should either lift or screw off. Next remove the cap. It may lift off, screw off or failing that, it may need to be pried off.
Beneath the cap some agitators are secured in place by a bolt. Use a socket wrench with an extension to remove that bolt. Some Maytags may have a screw near to the bottom of the agitator post that must be removed. Now try to lift the agitator straight up, possibly with a little back and forth rocking motion. Use caution when pulling, the agitator may come loose suddenly and hit you in the face or send you flying backward.
If the agitator is particularly stubborn, you can loop some rope under one side of the agitator at the bottom and then up over a broom handle. Now loop it again under the other side of the agitator and back up to the broom. Brace one end of the broom handle against the top of the washer and lift up on the other end. Double check that you have removed anything that may be securing the agitator in place. Do not use too much force or you may damage the washer cabinet, agitator or injure yourself.

Hi, we have Simpson top loading washing machine model number Esprit 550, the drum is not rotating and the spinning plastic rod in the centre of the drum is not spinning/rotating either

that is a direct drive

is the agitator (plastic rod )loose or sloppy
if you look down the inside of the agitator
do you see a nut at the base holding the agitator tight

if the timer is working
and water can pump in and out
that is good

bad
if you cant hear the motor click in
it will need to have the inspection cover taken off
for service or part replacement

Wt you mean by spin in washing machine

its a separate cycle all by itself.
Say U hand wash something in a sink and instead of wringing it out by hand U can put it in the washer and press this SPIN cycle.
So U can also use it to spin more water out of your garments after the regular wash and spin cycle.

Slower spin speeds mean -

  • Cheaper washing machines
  • Quieter washing machines
  • More stable washing machines
  • Longer lasting washing machines because there's less wear and tear on the bearings, motor, carbon brushes, suspension etc.*
  • Gentler on laundry
  • The drum spins for approx 4 or 5 mins. No water is added and you dont add detergent or fabric softener for the spin only option. The object of the exercise is to centrifugally remove excess water from the garments in the drum. They will still be damp but not sopping wet after the spin cycle
  • Spin takes the water out, extract is even better

I have Kenmore 60 series large capactity washing

There are two or three springs that hold the drum upright and level. They are attached to the motor and the drum base or sides. You have a broken spring. From being overloaded or turning during a last spin cycle it was out of balance and broke a spring. The machine will have to be taken apart to expose the springs. They are about 4-6" long. If the mounts are Ok replace all springs.

Bosch Washing machine will not spin

Are you able to see the belt? Maybe it broke. If the drum is not spinning than sometime broke that would make the drum spin. If you machine is a direct drive then there is a problem with the drive shaft.
