Hi

if theres only three wires , green, black and white then the green wire is a ground which goes to an exposed metal exterior screw on the pump. It doesent matter which way the black and white go, it will work either way but if when you try to attatch the connectors theyre harder to attatch one than the other then switch it to the most easier way to attatch. Make sure to connect the green ground wire, it is very important and always try plug the shampooer into the bathroom where the ground fault plug is- its an added level of security in case theres a ground fault.

Pump motor on Bissell 1400 Little Green Machine

When I reassembled mine, there was 3 wires connecting to the motor, Green, black and red. The Green one was connected to the lead on the side of the motor, the black one on the lead directly above the green one, on the same side. The red one was on the lead that was the only lead on that side of the motor. Hope that helps.

My brand new bissel little green proheat pet series is spraying solution however it's not hot when it comes out. I put hot water in the tank & turned the heater on. Isn't this the whole point?

Have you checked the user manual? Can be found at http://www.bissell.com/searchresults.aspx?searchtext=little green&mode=userguides

If there is no element then the water will cool down naturally.

Water doesn't come out my Bissel rug cleaner model 7901

The flat belt on you machine has an access panel to it from the side of the machine. That belt runs the pump if it is broken or came off the machine won't pump.

Check to make sure both of the red/black circular rubber gaskets on either solution or recovery tank are on the tanks and not stuck down inside the inlet valves on the machine itself.

Make sure there is fluid in both tanks. Without fluid in both tanks the pump loses prime and will not work.

If all that checks out then you are down replacing the pump, but usually when the pump goes out, you will have a short burst of water when you first turn it on and then it stops working.

Hope that helps you out-Good Luck

How to install a new water pump on a big Green machine?

I have replaced this pump before, and had the pump "seize" again. I hooked the output of the bissel to a siphon pump to pull a vacuum while i had the input hose (with the little filter) submerged in a bucket of water. After i got the pump started, I submerged both the inlet and outlet hoses (after the trigger handle) into a bucket of warm water and turned the spray switch on to circulate clear water through the whole deal

We found that ours had a simpler problem. Upon opening the motor compartment, we saw that the pump had "nudged" up from it's mounting slots. It is held down by a clip on each end and one had pushed up, allowing the pump to ride up and thereby disconnecting the short hose which kept the "suction train" intact. Once we re-seated the pump correctly and pushed the clip back down, the hose reached nicely and our suction was re-established.
Getting into the motor and pump area was the hardest part. Inside the power hose "cubbie" is a small hex head screw. Find your shortest stubbiest 1/4 inch open ended wrench to loosen this screw (lefty-loosey). Once the screw is out, gently pry along the edge with fingers and thumbs. The top (ours is green) part should separate itself from the bottom (ours is beige) part. The pump in our unit is red and has a 4-5 inch hose leading from the end of the pump to the outlet (on the outside of the green or top part). Re-assemble and go for it!

Bissel Little Green Spray Motor

Motor was seized. Probably from lack of use combined with the moisture involved with such a device. I loosened the motor with a pliers, gave it a small shot of wd-40, and off we go. Works fine.
