these are the few possiable reason for the remote not working...

1;resolder battery contacts on PCB and physically
    reinforce.
2;IR LED solder joints, sometimes IR LED failure (solder any old
red LED in parallel to check).
3;Broken tracks from being sat on/knelt on
    4;failed ceramic resonator,check
by replacing with any old resonator before
    aquiring the correct frequency.
5;Gradual failure of the most used buttons-worn
conductive pads-see hints and tips files.
6;Sudden loss of some functions due to break in track in
    the keyboard multiplexing.
7;Very rarely is the fault in the main IC.
8;The most common problem is spilt liquid corroding the contacts,
    through-board jumpers or pcb tracks.

How do I unlock the 'panel lock' of my Toshiba Regza without remote control?

Hello
To unlock the panel lock of Toshiba TV, follow this.

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control, and scroll until you come to the "Preferences" menu. Select "Parental Control and Locks," then press "OK." If your TV does not have a "Preferences" menu, go directly to the "Locks" menu.

Enter the four-digit PIN that you selected when you turned the Panel Lock feature on. You may have to scroll up or down to access this area

Press the "Up" or "Down" buttons on the remote until you reach the Panel Lock feature. Move the cursor to select "Off," and press "OK."

The store demo mode is stuck on my insignia tv. the user guide says go to menu and then setup and select plug & play. however the plug and play option is grey and it wont let me select it.

Are you using an HDMI cable? Go to input and select TV. Then you should be able to access the Plug & Play option and be able to turn off the Demo Mode.

Menu Scrolls Uncontrollably

The most common cause of the problem is a stuck/shorted button either on the television or on the remote. The worst case scenario is a faulty key control board. Remove the remote control battery or put it away from the television. Press the menu button on the television and check if the menu scrolls by itself. If yes, the DOWN button is stuck or shorted. You can actually hear or feel it click when pressed if it is not stuck.

Open the back of the television to gain access to the key control board. You can either repair/replace the faulty button or replace the key control board. Remove the screw holding it to the television casing. Disconnect the old board and install the new one.

Replace the remote control if the buttons on the television control are working properly.

Turn off child lock

To unlock the Panel Lock, Parent Lock, or Child Lock, follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On the remote, press the Menu button. The Set-Up Menu appears.
  3. Scroll to the Key Lock function and set function to Off.
  4. Press the Exit button to exit.
Note: If you don't have a remote, you may be able to do the same thing by pressing the Menu button on the front or side panel of your TV and using the volume or channel up and down buttons on the TV to scroll to the Key Lock function and set it to Off.

Try unplugging the set for 2 minutes first then try operations again. If that doesn't fix it maybe one of the buttons on the TV is stuck or the remote control is sending erratic commands.
