Do you have the hood open? If you have the hood open then car won't remote start. It is a safety feature so the car does not start while someone is working in the engine compartment. If the hood is closed then open the hood find the hood pin and disconnect then try to remote start the vehicle again. Could have a faulty hood pin.

2002 grand am remote starter

The most likely cause is one or more of the safety features are engaged during the attempt to remote start. The lights should flash a sequence that corresponds to the reason for failure to start. Your owners manual will describe what the sequence means. Based from experience, I suspect that the hood pinswitch has malfunctioned or damaged so the system thinks the hood is opened thus preventing starting.

I have the viper 5701 on a bmw 540i and the alarm works so does the keyless but the remote start does not work, the park lights flash 7 times and gives an error code, what can cause this?

The flashing parking lights signal a shutdown diagnostic. There is a nuetral safety switch under the dash. It's a toggle switch that needs to be in the on position. Also, the hood pin needs to be making contact with the hood when the hood is closed.

How to program a crimestopper remote control model #chx433tx

To program this remote-

1) Open hood or ground GREY wire @ pin #7 on 12 pin connector coming from Crimestopper control module usually located under dash.

2) Turn key to on position.

3) Press red programming button coming from module 4 times, after a few seconds the parking lights on vehicle should flash 4 times.

4) Press button #1 pause, #2 pause, #3 pause, #4 pause on the remote you are programming, the lights should flash after ever button push. After all four codes (buttons) are learned, the unit will exit code learning mode. If not, turn off key and close hood. Hope this helps......BUZZ

When i try and use the remote start, it doesnt work and my 2way displays the message "remote start error"

The parking lights will also flash a number of times to inform you of the error. The most common causes of the error are neutral safety shutdown (7 flashes). This is the toggle switch under the dash. Locate said switch and toggle it to the on position. Six flashes is the hood pin switch. Locate the switch under the hood and make the necessary adjustment so the pin makes contact with the hood when the hood is closed.

I bought a 2007 Camry with a remote start. The seller doesn't know how to start the car with the remote. The remote is a 4 button Viper 474V.

First, be sure that the remote is programmed for the vehicle by using it to operate the door locks(pressing the lock and unlock buttons). The parking lights should flash if nothing else works. The usual way to operate the remote starter with this remote is by pressing the * button once but, the option could have changed if the remote has been reprogrammed differently. So, try pressing the * button once. If this doesn't work press it twice within two seconds. If this doesn't work try pressing the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. If these steps fail to initiate the remote starter try the steps listed for the * button with the aux button. If either of the remote starter inhibits (hood pin, neutral safety) are active you should receive flashing parking lights for a failed attempt to remote start.

How is the chirping sound turned off?

1. Open Hood (ground blue hood pin wire if no hood pin switch is installed)
2. Turn Key to the ON position
3. Press program / valet button 5 times, after a few seconds the unit will flash the lights 5 times.
4. Push the valet/program button 18 times. You must get a light flash after each button press.
5. Press the LOCK button to turn chirp confirmation off.
6. Turn Ignition OFF, Close hood (or unground blue hood pin wire) and check for changed features.

Have model #RS82 installed it on a 2001 Dodge Dakota(no alarms or power windows, did not connect red&black#2,blackwhite#3, &black white #3 wire from the 9 pin harness. After making all connections...

Did you install the hood pin switch? If so, does the blower and dash lights come on when you press the start button on your remote? I have one installed on my 2005 and it works great. I did not install the hood pin switch ( Not the best idea if you take the vehicle to a mechanic for engine repair.) But I shorted the wire as if the hood were closed all the time.

I have a viper 791xv carstarter/alarm the battery had to be replaced on the car and the alarm works but the remote sart won't start the car on key pad it shows it 's start but then it beeps and is gone...

The parking light flashes are a diagnostic report to alert you to the reason the remote starter is not working:

5 flashes; brake wire is active
6 flashes; hood pin is active
7 flashes; manual transmission mode is enabled and not initialized
8 flashes; neutral safety wire has no ground or the switch is OFF.

Count the flashes and you will be able to go directly to the problem. Enjoy.

I had my Smartstart intalled by a dealer. They were able to get the doors to work. but Directed to d them if the doors work then my engine should start after I activate my subscr iption. Well I did and it...

The multiple flashes of the parking lights are shutdown diagnostics:
1. 1 flash is runtime expired
2. 2 flashes is over-rev shutdown
3. 3 flashes is low or no rpm (tach wire)
4. 4 flashes is transmitter shutdown
5. 5 flashes is + brake shutdown
6 6 flashes is - hood shutdown
7. 7 flashes is timer mode/turbo mode manual mode error
8. 8 flashes is neutral safety shutdown ( the remote start control switch is in the off position).
9. 9 flashes is low battery (voltage setting)
10. 10 flashes is alarm triggered
11. 11 flashes is wait-to-start input timed out.

Hopefully, the above mentioned diagnostics will help you determine why your remote starter is not working and you will begin to enjoy the system.
