Have you tried right clicking on the setup file and selecting run as administrator. You have to do this alot in vista. Let me know if this helps. I can also provide you with the download of your software so you can run that as administrator as this might help you.

If you have the vista drivers you shouldnt be having that problem , but a work around is
1.) right click on the Setup.exe program and select run as administrator
NB the setup.exe program is the program you rund to install your printer driver, its eighter located on the cd or the file package you download, you may need to extract the package first.
Hi,
Try disabling temporarily your anti-virus program while installing the HO Officejet 4255. If still a no-go or some of the features will not install correctly, thereafter disable your firewall (again temporarily) while doing a re-install.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

I have disabled Norton Internet Security and Windows firewall and the problem remains. Setup still refuses to accept me as administrator. Any further suggestions?
Thanks Lee...
I downloaded the program as you suggested and it installed without any problems. Very grateful for your helpful suggestions.
