Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

1 Answer

Playstation2 My son's playstation2 fell and the disk tray wouldn't work so I opened the thing up and got it back on track. But when I went to go close it up by accident pulled the cable strip out that leads to the restart and open button. But the end I got pulled out is the one connected to the playstation itself. I just need to know where and how to put the cable strip back into. Thank you for your time

My xbox disc drive keeps opening and closeing and wont let me play games

you will need to open this drive and clean the drive belt, or the tracks the tray use as they may be gummed up and dirty.
Open tray error is common, even more so on Samsung drives.

To fix this you usually really need to open your xbox360 so you can get to the disk drive so you can open it for a self-service. BUT first try to fix it with a laser cleaning kit, they don't cost much to purchase and you can get them from most electronic shops and also eBay.

If a cleaning kit did not work, then the problem may be your tracks, the disk spin head or the belt that moves the tray (drive belt).

Once you have your xbox360 opened (lots of good video guides on YouTube on how to open the xbox360) you will have to open your disk drive.

When its open, clean the left and right tracks, they can get gummed up with dust, and even tar if the unit is from a smokers home, when the tracks are dirty, it can stop the tray going in all the way then games don't play. Also if the spin head is dirty (the plate the disk sits on to spin the disk) then it does not grip the disk fully and thus does not spin at full speed, giving you read error. Finally the belt inside the drive can be removed and can be boiled in water for a minute or to, this cleans it and brings it back to its original shape, this helps the belt regain lost grip and can also fix this error your having, but belt problems are more for Samsung drives.

You should use rubbing alcohol to clean the internal components of your drive without causing any damage, you could even clean the laser yourself using a high quality kitchen roll sheet or micro fiber cloth, with rubbing alcohol and gently pass it over the lens to clean it. Once you have done all this, close everything back up and see if the problem is gone.

If your still having problems then chances are you need a new laser for your drive.

My PS2 fell on the floor!

Use to have this problem alot, there is a track on the under side of the tray a little plastic pin follows, it has jumped the track, do not force it closed or you could break the track, hopefully it isnt broken already. Have you ever opened a ps2 before?

360 disk tray

What I did was took apart my Xbox and put the disc tray back on the tracks, carefully lifting it over the circle thing in the middle. When I lay my Box down horizontally, it opens and closes fine.

My son dropped the x-box 360

open the case and check to make sure the small drive motor (especially the small electrical wires) and belts are intact and operate smoothly for the feeder tray.

My son's did the same thing but not because he opened it. I opened it myself and the tray was off track.. it's kinda easy to fix. I haven't had a problem since and this was maybe a year ago.

Playstation 2 problem

I wonder have you dropped your machine..??=) or has the tray been pulled on when its out.. because there is a plastic strip with teeth that it runs on try pushing the open/close button and pushing in on the tray. it might try to open back up on ya but just press the button again and push in on the tray...if the tray is pulled out past that point you will have to lift up on the tray and push it in at the same time with a little force to get it back on track..

Always opening disc tray

3 things cause this:-

A Damaged Disk, A Dirty Disk, or a Hardware fault.

Below is Microsoft's doc on the issue.
