Not knowing the model and year and assuming it's a gas dryer you need to replace the dryer ignitor coil. This is what ignites the gas electrically since they done away with pilot lights. It's not a hard fix by removing the back panel and they can be bought from Sears. Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. Don't forget to rate me.

No heat

Check the vent hose from the lint screen all the way to the outside flapper many calls I get of no heat on dryers is from people putting stockings over the vent in the winter and then back to the vent in the summer but what happens is that they don't clean it every week or more and it now builds up in the dryer blower and when hooked back up the the vent it blows a big glob of it and it then blockes the vent, this is also very dangerous because dryer lint is very flamable. Be sure to disconect power before cleaning the hose and blower in the dryer.

Whirlpool gas dryer LGR6636PWO heats for appro. 5 minutes & quits heating but still runs.

First check the exhaust vent and connecting vent material for a clog. If vent is OK,replace the gas valve coils.

Turn on but no heat

A bad thermal fuse will keep the gas valves from opening , therefor , no heat at any time . There will be no orange glow with a bad ignitor (used to lite the burner ) . Bad coils , the ignitor will glow and when the sensor clicks to cut off the ignitor , the coils should open to let the gas thru . Your dryer has a little peep hole you can remove to see the operation of the gas valve . Also , check the thermal fuse again ( or put the 2 wires togather to check) , disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and dry a load to see if dryes correctly .( Make sure you have good air flow at the dryer )The reason for this is because a dirty or clogged vent , not cleaning the lint screen vent hose kinked , or vent clogged from dryer to outside , will cause the thermal fuse to open .

Low heat output

A clogged or partially clogged vent . Especially if vents up thru the wall . If it vents straight out , make sure you have good air flow to the outside . Make sure the vent hose has no sharp kinks also . Try drying a load with the vent hose disconnected from the dryer . If clothes dry fine , that tells you the problem is elsewhere . Normally , a dryer either heats or doesn't heat . A heat for a few minutes then stops heating but continues to run complaint ,would be bad coils on the gas valve .

Gas dryer won't heat after a move.

Make sure the vent is not blocked. Run the dryer and feel for a strong air flow at the vent outside. The most likely cause is flexible vent hose used on the dryer is squeezed behind the dryer, blocking air flow. Don't use flex hose. You may have a lot of built up lint in the dryer vent pipes also, which would need to be cleaned out. Also, make sure you are still using the same type of gas. (natural vs. LP) If different, dryer would need to be converted for proper opperation.

Gas dryer heat cycles on and off about every 45sec's removed vent hose and problem still occures?

Check your heating element and also the high pressure switch which is located on the metal part behind the panel on the back of the unit where the vent hose connects sounds like your unit is over heating
