What is the camera model, actual powerbook and vcr? And you want to do this to convert from vhs to mini dv? Your camera should have a firewire port on it called 1394. Your VCR may or may not have S-video. If not you can purchase a s-video to coax adapter ( velloy video rca ). You may also need to locate a 4pin to 6 pin firewire cable. the 4 pin is for the cam, 6 pin is for the mac. The camera then goes s-video to rca to the vcr posssibly. Again I am only suggesting this at first, guess what is standard, and what I have seen. Any other variables or specifics that I am not aware of in your case, may change this configuration. If you have Ilife 05 or later or Imovie. Plug the camera to its power source. If the firewire cable is running to the mac, and the mac it on. Turning on the camrea will automatically open Imovie. From there you can load all of the video onto the Macintosh, and do what you like, watch , edit....what have you.

How do we hook up VCR to TV

  1. 1
Turn off all of your components. This will help prevent any accidental damage while connecting.
  2. 2
Connect the RF/COAX Out port on the VCR to the RF/COAX/ANT In port on your TV. Use a coaxial cable.

  3. 3
Connect your antenna to the the RF/ANT In port on the back of your VCR (optional). This will allow you to watch over-the-air broadcasts through the VCR.

    • Make sure that the VCR is plugged into the power outlet.

  5. 5
Set the VCR channel to Channel 3 or 4.

I am trying to use the Dazzle hooked up with my VCR ( I have done it before) but now the VCR is not playing the movie (can't see the video on my computer). The VCR is basic, it doesn't have an S Video

The setup should be like this.

VHS > RCA > Dazzle > Computer.

The cable must be connected at the back Audio/Video output not in the Input.

Please check also the online documentation below.

No video displayed in the Instant DVD Recorder preview window.

Can't hook vcr to tv

on the back of your VCR there will be a yellow colored port - most likely labeled "OUT" as well as possibly a white/red pair of ports.
The yellow is for a VIDEO hookup, the white and red are for AUDIO hookups.
These ports use what is called an RCA type connection.
Radio Shack, or just about any department store should be able to sell you an inexpensive set of RCA cables.

now on the back of the TV (possibly on the side) you will also have the yellow, white and red ports.

Hook one end of the RCA cable to the colored ports on the VCR, the other end of the cable to the colored ports on the TV.

last thing - the TV most likely has multiple inputs. there is probably a input button on the TVs remote, you need to press that button to cycle through the inputs until you get to the one the VCR is hooked up to.
its easiest to put a tape in the VCR and press play - when you get to the right input, you will see your tape...

good luck

The small screen should play what is being recorded. Make sure you push 'play' on the VCR2PC before you click the 'record' button.

Play & Record VHS through TV Tuner Card

You need to connect the ariel to the vcr, then the vcr to the card, using a male/female fly lead. Then I suggest putting an origional film tape into the vcr, press play on the vcr and then scan in the channels on the card. It should pick up the vcr's output of the film that is playing.

Diamond Multimedia ( VC500) Video Capture After I installed the program files from the disc and set up all the three cables for the audio and video, everything is hooked on right and tight but once I plug...

I was having this problem also. I originally plugged my 3 video cables into the VCR outlets in the front of the vcr. I finally turned the vcr around and found two other sets of video out plugs. One was to a dvd/dvr and the other was a vcr out. I took the plugs from the front of the vcr and plugged it into the dvd/dvr out and it worked! Good luck with your problem. Hope the resolution is just as simple.

Can't record from my digital cable tv to my sylvania dvd/vcr ..........

Depending on the unit your going to need to check the back of the DVR for video out ports... My DVR has VID/HDMI/VCR/1394/SaTa and IR ports I use the VCR out to record with... because on my DVR I can say "Play this movie... now record to VCR and it will only play the movie on those VCR ports not on my TV so all I gotta do is hit record on my VCR... As long as you have audio/video jacks on the VCR. Then even some have it blocked so you can't do that... depends on model. So try recording on the VCR using the video ports instead of the COAX cable.

Pc to TV, NO color

I have hooked up my laptop to the TV using the S port. I haven't seen the best results yet.

Have you checked the display driver settings? Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced.

Here you have a bit more options on tweaking the video card.
