It sounds like you may have dried a chunk or two where the Internet shortcut, (or another) key is. I suggest Home Depot or Lowes Electrical person showing you where the contact cleaner is. get a couple it's great for this stuff , water on expensive electronics. Alternate is CRC or QD contact cleaner usually at car parts places, also a couple cans of compressed air. make sure the contact cleaner is plastic safe .

1) Open and remove everything including rubber cover plugs and anttena, battery, memory card...... EVERTHING.

2) Read Can This Stuff is cold when it sprays and gets onyou but with no fire present and open wires. so outside, absolutely fill and fill all orifices you can see use small plastic tube in usb charge port, all through the body from rear, where battery goes.
when full and more full, (you get the idea by now). Now hold phone and swing arm down after it soaks about 10 secondsflip phone repeat. now use canned air in all accessable spots paying alot of attention to the bad design of the buttons blow under all keys well.

3) I have also used a toothbrush when soaked with good results.

now it is clean and you can pry to have renoed whatever was stuck under the button in question.

4) warm but no oven . set on das incar on a sunny day or a heat lamp for awhile then give it a go.

good luck~!

Numbers 7 8 and 9 not working

This is a generalist answer not one specific to this phone!

One of two problems here, the circuit board still has dirt or water residue on it preventing the signals from the keypad from being interpreted properly (a short), or the keypad its self is not conducting the current from the button pads properly when pressed.

Because there are three keys not working then I would imagine its the first problem as the circuits for a keypad circuit is arranged in a grid and this look like the row conductor is not working.

Damage like this often occurs to mobile phones months after they get wet as they slowly corrode with the smallest amounts of water left sitting in between or under the chips on the boards. If the phone has had water spilt on it then it isn't usually a problem if dried properly, anything else though usually is more of a problem.

The rubber keypad can be removed and washed in warm soapy water. The underside of each button is a conductive rubber and needs to be free of any 'stickyness'. these are usually pretty robust. (Only the rubber bit with the printed numbers on it!)

Once cleaned pat dry, even put it somewhere warm dry, or use a hair dryer.. once your happy there is no water left in the buttons etc put it together and try the phone again. I suspect it wont fix your problem though but that's the easiest fix of the two. If you don't want to pay for it to be repaired then have a poke around as its not going to be much use as it is, you'll need to do a bit of investigative work.

Take the phone apart, look for a track on the main circuit board that goes to each area where the 789 buttons would sit, follow it from the buttons and eventually it will go to a black chip on the circuit board, somewhere between that chip and the button pads is your problem. Look how clean the circuit board is near that chip, its likely the 789 button track goes to one of the pins of the chip and it is shorting to one of the pins next to it. if you confident use a pin and gently scrap between the pins, check both sides of the board in the same area for anything dirt related.

If you can get hold of an air line blow under the chip where the tracks go, (make sure nothing is around that is loose on the board that can blow away)

Other than that without a friend with a soldering iron there's not a lot else you can do.

We have dropped the handset in a bucket of water. How can we get inside it to dry it properly? Will it work again?

remove the battery immediately, open the housing and spread all equipment. if you have pure alcohol then clean the parts (except battery and LCD). leave it for 10-15 minute and reassmeble it. now check the battery condition if it is dry then insert and power on but if the battery is wet then wait for dry that naturally. dont try to heat them or dont let them in direct sunlight as this act can damage your battery. after some time you can power on your phone.

vote me if found helpfull.

Dropped the phone unit into water last nite, tried to dry it out with a hair dryer, still not working... battery seems fine tho

You need to try Silica Gel Packets to dry out your phone. There was a good article on that explains how to dry a wet cell phone, iPods, or any electronics.

You need to place your cell phone in a zip lock bag with Silica Gel Packets. Silica Gel will remove all the moisture from the phone and its components, something air drying will not do!

Just Google "Silica Gel Packets" and you will find several companies selling these products. There is also a web site called: that has them.

My phone got wet and now the screen won't work.

You should be careful, since mobiles are very sensitive to water. They could damage the ICs (Integrated Circuits) inside the mobile.
Just Open all the cases that you could open your phone.
Took out battery, sim card, key pad (If possible).

And now place the phone under sunlight for an hour.
and again be careful. watch out for the phone..

This might solve your problem.
Go to the nearest mobile service center to get it repaired.

My cordless phone fell in the toilet, it worked briefly after it happened but now is dead. Anything I can do?

Once a piece of electronic equipment gets wet, you need to disassemble it, remove the battery and dry it carefully using a lint free cloth. Then use a hair dryer2_bing.gif to dry it out. Do not put the hair dryer too close as you could overheat and damage the item. If you wait too long to do this, the water may have already fatally damaged your phone as things begin corroding quickly. Good luck!

Fix wet mobile

The phone was probably short-circuited when it got wet. Plugging it in could cause a fire. It most likely is time to buy a new one. Sorry.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

My LG secret got damp, but it was working until tonight, now the screen wont come on,plus before it was turning off ramdomly, putting my calls on hold whilst I was talking and when I plu earphones in,it wouls...

I've had the exact same problems as you, i've found that when the touch pad becomes wet the phone would start to do some weird stuff like make the down pad go up.
I advice you to not turn it on at all and try what you can to dry it up, turning the phone on while it's still wet will fry the components inside. Also don't put a dryer too close to the phone or else you want a multicoloured screen.
if none of this works you have n option but to phone your retailer.

Screen doesnt work

if you have a screwdriver, you can open the phone up and check if it is still dry or wet and also look to see if there are any burnout marks (greeny-blue or white).air it for an hour or few and put it back together. try again. is it pos 5 or pos 6 bit. or is it tork 5 or 6, at jay=car or dicks or bunnings if you don't need advice on it.
