Hi, I have an older dishwasher also and recently mywife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I amtried in vain to clean the things... However I have also foundthat if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad...So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to makesure it is working... No water intake, may be a defective intake hose valve. Miele calls it, the Waterproof System hose (WPS). However, first shut off your water valve to the dishwasher; disconnect the WPS; and inspect and clean the plastic filter. If the problem persists, then replace the WPS (~$170).

I have exact same symptons, please someone help. I have had issue before where the plumbing backed up so it overflowed into the catch tray. Then that has to be vacummed out and then just start a new cycle. This time there is no water in the overflow tray....

Button wont stay in - lights up but nothing happens. Machine three and a half years old.

The inlet/drain light also comes on when there is water in the base pan. There is a float switch that triggers this and over time if water has collected in the base pan the float switch can stick. Pull out the dishwasher and tilt it towards to back. If there is any water in the base pan it will come out. To be thorough, put the machine on it's back and remove the base pan (4 screws by the feet), the float switch is a circular plastic casing with a polystyrene float in it. It comes apart for servicing, the float can jam if there is any rubbish in the water.
