How can I unlock my toshiba laptop

At some point, you'll encounter a password issue on your Toshiba laptop computer for several possible reasons. For instance, you may have decided to go back to the old laptop, and it's been a while since you last logged into it. Forgetting a password is also common if you tend to create different codes for various uses: email, network administrator user information and bank account details, for instance. Should you need to unlock a Toshiba laptop computer that runs on Windows XP, here is what you can do.

1.Use a Windows installation CD to reset your password for your Toshiba laptop computer. This is the same one that you got when you purchased the computer. Boot the laptop using the CD in the same way that you would go through a re-installation for your operating system. Simply insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive and wait for the computer to read it. From there, you will get a prompt that says "press any key to boot from CD," so you just need to follow as instructed.

2.Repair Windows. Once the CD starts up, you will get to a screen that will ask you whether you want to "Install Windows" or "Repair Windows." Press "R" to repair. The computer will then reboot itself after copying files from the CD into the Toshiba laptop's hard drive.

3.Get into the control panel. After the computer boots up, you will encounter a screen that will say "Installing devices." To open the command prompt, press the keys "Shift + F10." On the command prompt, type in "nusrmgr.cpl."

4.Change your password. Getting into the control panel will allow you to change your password using the administrator's control panel utilities. Just go through the process of designating a new password to unlock your Toshiba laptop and then exit the command prompt.

5.Restart the laptop and try logging back in using the new password.

6.Log on without the Windows XP installer. If you don't have a Windows bootable CD, use another computer with internet access so you can create an emergency recovery disk (ERD) that will allow you to unlock a Toshiba laptop. Browse through the internet and search for ERD software.

7.Burn the ERD program into the blank CD and use it to reboot the Toshiba laptop that you want to unlock. The computer will automatically detect the program, so it will take you to a series of prompts where you can change your password.

I have toshiba dyna notebook ss 2000m. My windows xp corupted by a virus. all .dll files became .exe files. now i want to install a fresh copy of win-xp. but when i can't be able to boot from a usb...

There are two possible reasons why, First, maybe the legacy onboard usb is not enable from the BIOS. I believe that you know how to check it, just look for the legacy USB or legacy onboard.

Second, it is possible that your windows XP disc is not a bottable version, meaning the disc will be read as a data cd only and not an installer.

But try to check for the first, that is closer to resolve your problem.

Canon MP500 all in one printer is not compatible with Windows Vista. Is there a solution for this problem, or do I need to buy a different printer?

My Canon PIXMA MP500, purchased in mid-2006, came with the (then) ScanSoft OmniPage SE2 software on a CD. The PC had WinXP Installed. I had no use for the ScanSoft it so I made no effort to install it.
Fast Forward:
Two PC crashes later, July 2009. Using Win Vista Home Premium
LOST, important WinWord document file, only a hard copy available.
I tried to recover, scanning the "Xerox" copy. The SE Version of OmniPage was very complicated but I succeeded in producing a replacement *.doc file.

It appears that newer editions of WinVista contain the right printer drivers for this Canon Model.

Toshiba satellite 200 wont work

Hi westgir168, do you have the restore CD or CD's that came with the notebook? If yes than load CD 1 into you're cd-rom & restart the notebook. It should load the CD. Follow the on screen instrustions to reinstall windows & drivers.
If no, you need to check you're notebook. Somewhere you will find a sticker for microsoft.(if not on the notebook it will be on one of the small books like a user manual or on another docmunt).
It will list the version name of windows that is installed on the notebook & show the CD-key for windows. Borrow a friends windows CD that is named the same as notebooks. (Ex. Windows Home or Window Pro edition).
Use their CD to re-install windows, than use your CD-key during the install. Find your driver software from Toshiba at this link.

(That IPod might have had a virus on it).

Luck!

Toshiba DVD ROM SD M1302 driver

If you are using Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, NT or XP, and have an ATAPI/IDE CD/DVD drive, there is no driver needed (see Toshiba statement I have posted below). Under no circumstances, if DVD is properly installed and functional, will you need ANY driver!

If your DVD drive is a SCSI drive, then it may need drivers specific to the SCSI card you have installed (see the specs/manual or website for your card). You may also need the Adaptec SCSI setup, available at this address:

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/suppbyproduct.jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=%2FTechnology%2FSCSI+Software&fromPage=driverindex

or use this address if you have a LOGIC based SCSI card or device:

http://www.lsilogic.com/

Now, if you meet the criteria for the first paragraph I wrote, and your PC does not load the driver automatically (after a reboot or two) then you have a PHYSICAL or HARDWARE problem. Either the DVD drive is improperly cabled, improperly installed or defective.

Those are all your options. See below, from Toshiba website
good luck

ATAPI CD-ROM and DVD Drivers

Toshiba's CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives do not require any unique device drivers for Windows '95/'98/2000/XP/NT.
After installing your drive and re-booting, your system should recognize your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Win '95/'98/2000/XP/NT Operating Systems support all Toshiba ATAPI CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives natively.

DOS/Windows 3.x Device Drivers

This device driver is to be used with DOS/Windows 3.x operating systems. Do not use this driver with Windows '95, Windows '98, XP or Windows 2000 unless you are going to use your system in the REAL or MS-DOS Modes. Device drivers for Windows '95, Windows '98, Windows 2000, XP, OS/2, and NT operating systems are provided with the installation or setup software of each operating system.

DOS ATAPI Interface Driver
If you prefer using DOS click the link below to download a MS-DOS ATAPI interface driver.
atapi.exe

SCSI CD-ROM and DVD Drivers

SCSI interface drivers are written for the SCSI card you are using in your system, by the SCSI card manufacturer. They are not specific to your Toshiba drive and are not provided by Toshiba. If during installation Windows can not find the correct SCSI software driver for your SCSI card and you do not have the software driver that came with your SCSI card, contact your SCSI host adapter manufacturer.

Adaptec SCSI Drivers
LSI Logic (Symbios) SCSI Drivers
DVD Viewing Software

Toshibas DVD drives require a third party software to be installed in your system to enable you to view DVD movies. If you purchased your drive as part of a kit, the software may have been included. The links below will provide some possible solutions should you not have this type of software.

Installation

You need to use floppy disks (called boot disks) to boot DOS with cd-rom drivers, because the win98 cd isn't bootable by default.

I suggest you to go to http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and grab the respective windows 98 boot disk.

You will need a functional computer to write the disk image into the floppy.

After that put the boot order in BIOS as floppy first.

Once you see DOS prompt A:\> just access your cd-rom drive like d: or e: and then type install
