Memory card error
Same Problem
Feb 02, 2009
-   I have now gone through 3 new 1 GB memory cards, trying to replace an old one. I read trhe manual and followed the directions to a T. I first get a screen that gives you 2 choices. Either turn camera off or format. When I choose thr format option mcamera screen switches to a screen that reads Busy----------.It looks as though it almost finishes filliung up the dashes and then the camera turns blank yet the green light remains on. When I turned the camera off, and tried to take pictures it now reads Card Error! What is going on ? I must be doing something wrong considefring that this is my 3rd attempt. Any suggestions?HELP!
Sincerely, Lucie Sanchez

-   When I switch my Fuji FinePix A330 digital camera has the following message: 'Card Not Initialized' - thought perhaps problem lay with1 GB XD-Picture card being 'full' of photo's - but it won't let me delete any - does this sound like it's a problem with the camera or just with the card?.. the card is fine when I copy photos over to my PC?? I am a complete technophobe, wanting to catch my baby son's first Christmas on camera (and who can't afford to but another camera despite the great sales about!) and would very, very much appreciate any assistance you can offer. Many thanks, Lisa Mulheron-

-   Hi i have the same problem,i just purchased a 4 gb sd card. The problem is one of a firmware upgrade to enable the optio 30 to accept sd cards larger than 500 or 1 gb in size.Problem is that there seems to only be firmware version 1.01 available for a long while and the fact that almost all devices and gadgets made up to 2006/2007 could not take memory card of more than 1 gb.I am hoping pentax releases a frimware update in order for the hardware to accept larger sd card sizes. -

Hi, I kept getting a "memory card error" on my Canon PowerShot S500 as
well. It turns out that one
of the pins in the CF memory card slot was bent. Maybe I accidentally
bent it while changing the memory card one day. Anyway, I had to take
apart
the whole camera to get in there and straighten out the pin, but when I
put it all back together, it works great! No more errors. Take a look
with a flashlight and see if one of your pins are bent. And if you
decide to take it apart, be very careful about keeping track of where
each screw goes... they are tiny and they are different sizes.

My Ricoh Caplio R7 won't recognise the SD card anymore (and only saves to the limited internal memory). I've tried other SD cards and they don't work either.

To turn on the camera I have to hold the power button for a long time (5seconds or so) before it will turn on, the it reads Memory Card Error.
