If i push the power button,i get this information: memory write/read failure at 12602000, read 6B8F608F expecting 608F608F Decreasing available memory memory address line at 12610000, read 00000000

Hi Daiel,

Hopefully this will be the problem of the system memory module or the module slot. Try with changing the memory slot of same memory module or change the entire memory module. Its very old one right, so these problems may occur due to heavy duty done by the memory modules.

Dimension 4600 ,having problems with it eccepting the same ram i had in it before i changed hard drives.

First things first, were you grounded to an antistatic mat when changing out the memory?
Memory is very sensitive and can easily be damaged by static.
Just to be sure, find a boot CD with a DOS program called Memtest. It will test the memory and give you a visual readout if the memory is good or bad.
If your memory is defective, see if the manufacturer has a warranty for the memory and try to RMA it.

Hope this was helpful.

Does not see added memory, but I know memory is ok because I changed slots.

How much memory did you put in? Try changing the position of the memory.. In other words take out the memory and put the new memory in the old slot first. Let me know.

I have an IBM thinkpad T20 running windows 2000. The computer is on and booted up but the monitor is not lighting up. It is running on 256mb ram and I was getting a lot of virtual memory is low warnings...

To determine if the laptop has a problem with the inverter of low virtual memory issues, plug an external monitor in to the laptop and you can change the virtual memory by following these instructions, right click on my computer, select properties, then select advanced, click on virtual memory and change the settings to system detemined, save settings and reboot the laptop without the external monitor to see if it is virtual memory or inverter.
Please keep me informed
