That will depend on the charger that you are using. If you use a 10 amp. charger it should only take about two hours for partial charge and up to six for complete. Thank you

Sometimes it is more expensive to fix the problem with the generator charging system than purchase a small 12v battery charger. I would purchase a 12v small battery charger (5A) that you can keep plugged into your house hold power. This will maintain the battery at full charge so it is ready to start when you need it.
The Yamaha EF2500 portable generator uses a NGK spark plug #BPR6HS. Just bought on this week at the local NAPA store to replace the old spark plug in my generator.
If the voltage is less than 20 V AC, you should check the excitation field, rings and brushes, AVR - rectifier, cables and fuses.
If every thing is OK you may need to recharge the DC field with a short connection of "+" and "-" of a 12 V battery to respective field terminals when the engine is running.
If the AC voltage raises for a second and drops when you disconnect the battery - the excitation circuit is bad.
If the field circuitry is good (winding, diodes, AVR, [rings and brushes if any], try to recharge the field for a few seconds when motor is running, with a 12 V battery "B+" to "F+", "B-" to "F-".
Check where is the plus and minus of the field.
Take a 12 V battery. Connect the minus to the field minus. Start the generator and just for a second connect the plus and disconnect. The voltage should build up. If not check the AVR.
I dont believe this bike has a rectifier, just a generator, located in the bottom forward engine case. You can test the generator by charging the battery, put the bike on the center stand, attach a DC volt meter to the pos and neg of the battery and run the engine, the volt meter will show 13.6 - 14 volts if the generator works. It is possible you got a battery with a dead cell causing it to never get fully charged... sometimes they're dropped during shipping and other handling. charge the battery and check the voltage, if it seems good, take it out bring it to an auto store and ask them to load test the battery, theyll do it free at most places. if it fails...the battery you got was a dud, take your receipt to the store you bought it and explain what happened and they should honor their service and replace it free. good luck. if the bat is good and the alternator is not charging there are a few other directions to go...
