Tried that no luck, the cisco card is not getting an ip address, even when i force one it still will not pick up a network.
does your laptop have a switch on the side or Fn key (blue icons on the F keys) to turn on/off the wifi.
Sometimes Fn + F2 will toggle the wifi on/off.
Post your make/nodel laptop and OS for more specific advice
I avoid using client utilities with wifi. In the conection "allow windows to manage connection" and see if you can connect

- I suggest you go back to basics.
uninstall the cisco util and the card driver reboot and then install only the card driver...
check that the OS recognises the card and it powers up ok and it gets an IP etc.

- OK try this, start, settings, network connections, right click the wifi conection and select properties,in the wireless network tab, ensure that "use windows to configure wifi" is ticked,
press the "view wireless networks" button
does you router come up?
If not connect to your router via ethernet cable and go into the wifi settings and ensure that the wifi settings are set to "broadcast SSID" and try above again.
Another possible option is to try the wifi settings with the WEP or WPA set to none/disabled to see if it is a security issue preventing the card from connecting and gettingan IP.
also check in device manager, right click the wifi adaptor and in general ensure that device is enabled, also my wifi has an "ON" button in the advanced tab...
