I have a Gateway GM5072 I think the fan is going out. it speeds up and while it is running my computer gets real slow I think a fan is going out? will that make my computer slow down? I need to know what...

Hello strabley,
Have you ever cleaned the inside of your computers? Close it down completely disconect the power source, open the side panel and wit a compressed air can clean the fans and remove all dust accumulated on the peripherals ,
You should see some chromed screws on the back panel take them out and slide the side panel towards the back see the gateway tutorial here http://support.gateway.com/s/tutorials/Tu_842243.shtml
Hope this helped

My PC has slowed down significantly. Could it be

Your ISP would not slow the computer's overall speed however try emptying out your TIF folder (Temporary Internet Files) and run an overnight Defrag, that should help a bit

Old program won't run on new computer win XP but runs on others

> ran slow

Probably, having more RAM would make VMWARE run faster.

Check the manufacturer's web-site -- surely, they have a version which *DOES* work as a "native" application under Windows XP and Windows VIsta and Windows 7, i.e., no need for "compatibility settings".

Why does my computer keep slowing down?

The problem is Firefox...it is a resource hog and they have to fix it. It will not release the ram it allocates for itself even after you shut the program down. You can actually hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and bring up the task manager and go to processes and find firefox there and shut it off. My honest opinion is use Google Chrome...it uses very little resources and is the fastest browser out there and you can import all your favorites, etc. Using firefox and watching videos will bring a decent system to its knees.

Internal speakers dont work

If there is 'My Compiter' icon on your display screen, right click the mouse then select Properties, then click Hardware top button, then click Device Manager, then click the positive "+" sign of System Devices then click System Speaker then Enable at the use rectangular box option. Or you may use the Control Panel then select Performance & Maintenance. regards
