    Card lock means that someone
switched the little gray sliding lock on the memory card. It prevents the
camera from saving new pictures to AND copying pictures from the card. All you
have to do is take the card out and slide the little gray slider back into the
    unlocked position.
Take the card out of the camera. On the side of it is
a little 'switch'. Flip the switch in the opposite 'unlock' position

1)check the card to make sure the
write protect switch isn't on the wrong setting. It's on the side of the Secure
    Digital card (not memory stick).

    2) I hope you're not buying Memory Stick. That's for Sony. You should be buying
    support digital.

    3) Check the card contacts--if the card isn't making good contact in-camera,
you'll get hold of card errors. This happens when someone touches the contacts
on the card. Usually cleaning will work unless something sticky get on it. Most
memory cards do have exposed contacts, so you enjoy to be careful when handling
    them ...

    4) Format the card in the camera if you grasp an error message. It may just
entail to be formatted.Your battery is always
drain quickly, that’s symptom of the battery near to run out.,it’s better to
change it, your owner's manual say that Lithium AA's will work well and later
    almost as long.

    Hope this may help….

Hi-

On your memory cards their are small switches on the side, usually the color of the tiny switches are white. make sure its all the way to the opposite side where it is at presently and try using the cards again. Try reformatting the cards as well but make sure you make a backup file if it has photos in it..

Keep me posted if you have questions. Thanks for using fixya!

    Hi-

The memory card is write-protected. To take a picture, turn off the
camera. Then insert a new card or change the storage location to
    internal memory.

    Hi-

    Try this

    • Turn the camera off, then on again. Make sure the camera is not in Favorites mode.

    • Depress shutter button completely down (

      Taking a picture
      ).

    • Insert a new or charged battery (

      Loading the batteries
      ).

    • Wait until the Ready light glows green before attempting to take another picture.

Try replacing the batteries as well

If it doesnt work still chances are you are having a hardware issue with the camera- if its still within warranty call manufacturer for replacement.

Card locked shows of view finder, cannot take a picture it shows a't picture but won't take a picture

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

"memory full" but SD cards are empty

Not sure if it will be this, but has the SD card got locked by accident? There is a little sliding button on the side of the card, which can be locked to protect the content. My camera shows the card as full if I accidentally lock the card. You can just slide it back again to unlock it. I never noticed the button was there until I accidentally knocked it while loading the card in and out of my PC to transfer the photos.

The shutter in the camera lens is not working, the motor that controls the aperture has failed or the related gears. This device will require a camera specialist to resolve the issue and an estimate recommended.

My camera shows black on the screen and view finder but when I download the memory card the pictures are there?

This may seem silly, but is it possible that you're accidentally turning the camera on to camera mode rather than review mode with the lens cap on? That would explain a black screen without being able to view images on the card. Just a thought.

Hi,

Remove the batteries wait a few minutes. Put fresh batteries back in and turn the camera on. This resets the camera. Then remove the memory card from the slot from your camera. Then insert back and check you will not be getting this error.

If still there is some problem, take the memory card out and copy the pictures from the memory card to system and then format it. Insert the card back to the camera. You won't get the format error.

Hope this helps.

After inserted A new batteries in the screen shows card locked how I can fix that

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

Hi jodybuggie I know this is obvious, but have you tried sliding the little white lock tab on the side of the card back away from the contacts end?

Will not take more than a few pictures.

I had the same problem using a Play.com 8Gb SDHC card. I replaced it with a SanDisk 4Gb SDHC card and the problem hasn't reoccurred.

Seems these cameras don't like "cheap" SD cards.

My Nikon D40X won't take pictures, only makes squishy sound

take the batteries out of the camera and the memory card..verify that the memory cards are good by trying them in a printer or another cam..
other thing is you might not be in picture taking mode..you might be in the settings mode..check the user manual if you don't know if you are.
