Question about Kitchen Ranges

Auto oven cleaner

I have ran my range through the auto cleaning cycle. Now when I turn my oven on the auto clean light blinks, and the oven won't heat. The cycle worked just fine, but it doesn't heat or pre-heat now.

I removed the two screws that hold the warning plate that has the latch coming through it. This allows the oven lock lever and latch to move around. you will see the shiny base of bracket that holds the lever and latch mechanism. I took a plain butter knife and pushed back the insulation to see the switch. I then put the butter knife against the switch and rapped it fairly hard with the screwdriver handle 3 or 4 times. Put the plate back and screws back. Turned on the breaker and was good as new.

Tools needed.. butter knife and nutdriver to fit screws.

Why does the oven cleaning light come on when i turn the oven on

Make sure that you slide the oven door latch all of the way to the left after the clean cycle. If the latch is still positioned to the right in the locked position then the CLEAN light will continue to blink. If the door latch lever is positioned properly to the left and the CLEAN light is still flashing then you could have a problem with the latch mechanism or the electronic oven control. You can try to reset the electronic control board by unplugging the range for several minutes (or shutting off the breaker for the range outlet) to completely disconnect electrical power. If the CLEAN light still blinks after you restore electrical power then you will likely need to have the range serviced by a technician.

I need direction on how to start the clean cycle on my jenn air

CLEAN PAD
Use to set a self-clean cycle or a delayed
self-clean cycle. One press of the Clean
pad sets up an immediate clean cycle. A
second press of the Clean pad sets up a
delayed clean cycle.
• Clean oven
frame, door
frame (area
outside of gasket)
and
around the
opening in the door gasket with a nonabrasive
cleaner such as Bon Ami*. These
areas are not exposed to cleaning temperatures.
• Remove air grille.
• Remove oven racks. If racks are left in
during a clean cycle, it may impair function
and they will discolor. Turn off the
oven light and close door.
* Brand names for cleaning products are
registered trademarks of the respective
manufacturers.
TO SET FOR IMMEDIATE START:
1. Press Clean pad once.
2. Press the Auto Set pad for 3 hours of
cleaning time, press again for 4 hours
and again if 2 hours of clean time are
desired.
3. CLEANING and LOC plus the clean
time will appear in the display.
4. When the clean cycle is complete,
CLEANED will be displayed. LOC will
remain on until the oven has cooled
(approx. 1 hour).
5. When the oven is cool, LOC will no
longer be displayed and the door may be
opened.
6. Wipe out the oven interior with a damp
cloth. If soil remains it indicates the
cycle was not long enough.

TO CANCEL SELF-CLEAN:
1. Press Cancel pad.
2. If LOC is NOT displayed, open oven
door. If LOC is displayed, allow oven to
cool.

There is probably a switch attached to the oven locking mechanism that need to be replaced. I had a similar problem on my GE electric oven and it worked for me.

I can't stop cleaning!!!

I had the same problem. The issue is in the electric switch that tells the oven whether the door lock is latched. If the switch gets stuck in the "clean" position, even though the lock is released, the oven will not run the regular cycles. If you wiggle the lock levr a few times it may free the switch, otherwise you'll have to raise the cooktop, and there is a metal cover over the mechanism. Remove the 2 screws holding the switch (unplug the power first) and you should be able to un-stick it. Reassemble and you're good to go, at least until you need to run the cleaning cycle again...

Self clean light blinks, oven does not work

You were right. The locking mechanism switch somehow became jammed and the oven thought the door was locked, even though I could open the door. I didn't know if I was supposed to take the top off and moving the lever back and forth did not help. Finally I turned the oven on and just kind of jiggled the latch in the unlocked position. I kind of moved it back and forth furiously and the cleaning light stopped blinking and the oven light came on. I'm glad it is working now, but I will be manually cleaning my oven from now on! Thanks for your help.
