ATC336 Power Supply

Awesome. Thanks so much for your help and fast response! So have you actually seen a bad power supply mistaken for a bad DM3x?? I thought I may have read that somewhere, but I'm just not sure. Thanks again!

Thanks a ton. You've been a huge help even if unfortunently it's not my power supply. I'll keep my fingers crossed though (except for when I'm soldering). Thanks again. I appreciate it.

Are you familiar with the HD61THW263 model at all?

  • Ben_Eve Jul 11, 2008

Well, with the HD61THW263, I'm pretty sure it's the bulb, but I'm not for certain. When first plugged in it gives me the 10 blink error code, then it tries to fire. If it doesn't start, it just gives me the 5 blinks over and over for probably 10 minutes or so until LED just stays lit. Now about 10% of the time it will start up. That has gotten progressively worse over time. A few months ago it was probably 50% of the time. I tried to do the chipper check to find out the 10 blink error, but I couldn't get it sync up for some reason. Here's the thing, sometimes when it doesn't start up - it doesn't do anything. No color, no fans, no ballast trying to strike the lamp, nothing. It just cycles the 5 blinks over and over again. However I still get volume. I'm just really hoping it's not the DM3 on this unit. I'm on my second bulb that has roughly 500 hours on it or so. Any thoughts would be awesome. Thanks again.

Do you know much about the DM3x module on the HD50LPW175? I fixed 3 of the ACIN power boards with the capacitor fix, and tested them all with a known good DM3x - every one of them worked perfect! But in testing the good power boards with 2 other of my 3 DM3x boards, they are **** in what I think is the "boot-up" sequence. When plugged in, the front LED comes on, blinks 5 times, then just stays lit like it's stuck - the only way to power the TV off is to unplug it. I thought I've read of a DM3x fix before, but I'm not sure. Anything I could replace in there? Thanks a bunch for your help.

Yes the symptoms of bad capacitors on the Power supply can mimic the symptoms of a failed DM3. Its alot better to try the capacitor change first, as they are a common source of failure and the price of the DM3 is very exspensive.

I would be surprised if changing out those capacitors didnt fix your problem. Yes I am famillar with all RCA TVs. What seems to be the problem with the HD61THW263?

When the computer is plugged there is a fast blinking green light and will not turn on

A fast blinking green light means the power supply is bad and will have to be replaced. Make sure you replace it with a least the same wattage supply that is in it now.
Hope this helps.

The TV shutts off

Friend this is a very common problem with LCD and also DLP within the power supply the capacitors
Start to fail and the way you can tell is to check them visually for swelling or expanding of the top.
It will be easy to see the bad caps will not be as flat on the top as the good ones, this is the problem,
Exchange them and you will be OK, Well good luck friend. And if it doesn't work make sure the power supply is sending 24v to the inverters when you turn the set on your meter should climb but won't reach 24v because unit will shut down and if so we ruled out the inverters or backlight I seen this problem also caused by the signal board it has a power on command missing and it looks like the power supply is bad but actually it's the signal board, it may be labeled on the board a active high or low 5v which sends the command to the power supply.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Thats a common problem with the RCA ATC336 Power supply when the capacitors fail on the AC in power board. You can get the repair kit at the following link which will usually repair that symptom.

Brand new router works sometimes

the wall plug type power supply (made in China) may be likely bad.
This actually is a switch mode power supply very unlike the old and usual linear power supplies.
It is common the capacitors used in this supply are under rated and do not last very long.

The problem usually seen with dim LED lights on the unit, limited range and intermittent operation.

Try to find a replacement power supply with perhaps higher current rating.

Good luck

I would try the power supply first as the ATC336 has a history of the bad power supply boards. If the power supply doesnt fix it then I would think it may possibly be the ballast
