Question about Gigabyte PC Desktops

Open Question

Have gigabyte GA-73PUM-S2H board with quad processor. Can't get my headphone jack in the front of PC to work. Have tried updating drivers, unplugging and re-plugging connector from M/B. Changed device settings but nothing works. Rear speaker outlets work fine. Headphones work with other systems.

SOURCE: Headphones with mic / external speakers

Does your computer have front audio ports? If so, you can just plug it in there. Otherwise you need a single male 2 dual female converter to plug into the speaker port.

you should be able to get it out from the inside on the card. Do you have a sound card or is your sound on the motherboard?

SOURCE: audio jack has headphones pin broken off into it

If you have a pick set you can try prying it out of the hole with one of the picks. If you don't have one then your only option would be to replace the motherboard.

Check the settings for your speakers in the sound settings. It is possible that the settings have changed. It is also possible that the sound card has went bad in that port.

A least the device is not bad? Try downloading the drive files again. Go to devices and select remove or delete then restart the computer it will seek out the device again and download the drivers from Windows Update or the drivers disc that came with your computer. Or go to the manufacturers web page and download the drives there. John

1) Make sure that your Power Source is giving enough energy to the new Mother Board and make sure it's compatible.
2) Make sure that the new Mother Board is compatible with all of your current hardware, you can check this in the webpage from the Mother Board Company.
3) Check the voltage requirements for the Mother Board, check the BUS speed of the Mother Board and compatibility with the transfer speed of each of your current hardware.
4) It's never recommended yo change only a Mother Board since usually there's going to be problems with the rest of the hardware if it wasn't changed, if the problem persists, you'll have to buy new hardware that is compatible with your new Mother Board.
5) If you know how a BIOS works and how to configure one, you could also check the configuration in the BIOS, not sure it will work but it's worth a try if you know what you're doing.

Can you call the PC vendor? For example Dell will give you 3 years of support. If it's an aftermarket card can you call the card manufacturer for support? You have a very specific error that could be researched on google.
Is your card/PC really old?
