Question about Kenmore Dryers

Kenmore Gas Dryer

My dryer won't heat up at all. I checked out all of the trouble shooting things in the manual but that's not it. I think that there is a fuse on the inside, I am going to check that but i thought I would try here too. I did run it with the door open and my hand inside and it never heated up at all.

I am going to go buy the fuse right now! Thanks a lot! The only problem is that on my model where there would be continuity like on an old car fuse it is encased in like black plastic so i can't tell if it is bad. I will replace it nonetheless and test it.

I bought it, installed it, and it worked. Apparently I didn't have to take apart the entire dryer like I did but I vaccumed the whole thing and found 3 bucks in change.

You probably burnt out the thermal fuse.

This is located in the back of the dryer. First unplug the dryer then remove the back panel. Remember once you remove an part of the dryer you have to watch for sharp edges be careful!

Now on the back of the blower housing is a white thermal fuse, usually two wires, check to see if it is good, like a fuse it should have continuity. If it is open you have the problem. you can buy these anywhere on line, I would start with Sears.com.

While you have your dryer open vacuum it out and clean the venting this is probably when the fuse opened, its there to protect you and the dryer.

Ask more questions if you have them.

My Kenmore elite electric dryer will not heat. I

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. No Heat issue in an electric dryer is usually caused due to three things mainly: Thermal Fuse, Wiring Harness and/or Heating Element. Start with checking the Thermal Fuse which is mounted inside the back cover panel to the exhaust duct and is mounted in white plastic housing. If that’s fine then the Heating Element should be checked. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

You may want to check if the heating element needs replacing. Most Dryers have 2 heating elements that are found by taking the back off, some of the newer dryers have 3.
