****. Mine does the exact same thing, and I can't figure out how to fix it. I don't want to tell me dad about it.. cause, well, just yesterday I managed to accidently put my cell phone in the washer, and he'll think I did something to break the camera too. ):

This is so frustrating! I am having the same problem and I dont even know why it started doing this. I went to the Kodak website and it will be a minimum of at least $80 to repair it. Thats not including shipping and handling either. Any solutions yet?? Its almost easier to just go out and buy a new camera at this point.

My Kodak Easyshare M883 camera wont stay on. I turn it on and it makes a buzzing sound then turns off. It cant be because of the battery because I have full battery. So what is the problem and how can I...

The camera is shutting off because on start up there is an error on the main controller . Remove the battery and if possibel check if the current capacity of the battery is good enough. Most often the voltage will be shown but the current (Ah) will be less. So use a load to check if possible or try on a similar camera just to make sure. Remove the memory card , check for virus , format and reset.
Try the battery back, if fault recurrs then you will have to open to check if the electronic board is not getting the correct data on switch on but has some errors -- possible load factors in circuit- to switch off.
Might have to disconnect flash unit to check, if not the lens or shutter drive could be faulty.
hope this helps.

Today I turned on my camera to take a picture and while it was turning on it made a weird noise, zoomed in and out, and then turned off. Why does it do this?

Are you using Li-ion batteries as recommended by Kodak?
Also, are they charged up sufficiently?

Many people try to use Alkaline or even NiMH batteries without success in Kodak digital cameras.

I would suggest using charged up Li-ion batteries.

HELP!! I am having a real Kodak moment. I have a Kodak M883, The wall charger says the battery is full but when you put the battery in the camera the camera turns on, the lense extends, battery reads...

Hello :

It seems that the battery is dead or the battery base is rusty or there's isolation stuff on it . Try to clean the base first . If that didn't help , then I recommend you to replace the battery .

good luck .

The camera turns on, zooms then goes off

Looks like your zoom button is stuck. Try pressing both the W and T sides several times keeping the camera off. If this doesn't work, you'll have to go for a service center.

My m883 turns on for 1 second then shuts off??

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Here are the steps:

1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera.
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.
4. Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.
