DSR-45's firewire port is held on a separate littlle circuit board, easily reached from the underside of the deck. Remove the bottom panel, unplug the cable from the Firewire board and there is 1 screw to hold the firewire board in place. The part is called DV-032 on Sony's Parts website and costs about £30 UK including postage to buy.
Hi, Try to playback with other tape recorded earlier from other camera or VTR .If other tapes are palying properly without any glitches then it might be the problem with this recording.
the issue is probably related to the format the tape was recorded in. a z1u records in hi def (hdv) the dsr 45 is standard def ntsc. not compatable, play the tape in a z1 to recover
you have a connection problem either in your cords or in your circuits in the com it self worst case is you have a circuit going out and it only works at certain times will eventually will be all the time maybe a com repair tech can help before something else goes wrong to people always get mad at the answers on here but theres not anyway to let me reach through the com and fix your problem so i have to refer you to a tech if you cant fix it
Do you have Final Cut Pro? If not which editing system do you have. Imovie may do the trick. You need to import the video onto the computer and then process it and export it to DVD via a program that has that capability such as Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express (I believe that will do it, too).
if i,m not miss understanding the problem is rec audio ng.if it,s, the posible cause are; 1;head dirty at the line of the tape causing data from head can,t write the tape optimal.for this problem you can clean the head carefull the head can easy broke., 2;if the picture having tracking posible the guide that bring the tape at the left doesn't fully at the track.for this problem at emergency you can try to push the left guide.
I think you may have misconfigured something because the problem is not in your DSR-11 try connecting it to a monitor and you will see the time stamp and picture as proof of what I am saying. The problem I think is that your Mac is not processing the time stamp correctly.

Port's fried for sure -- that's a classic Firewire Port Burnout problem. Could be a cheap repair if you can take it to someone who's not afraid to get their hands dirty (soldering, perhaps). I don't know how integrated the port is to the unit (like on a laptop) so good luck!
