Mitsubishi WS-65513 Flashing green light

Please send me the fix for the DM board. I unplugged the unit for 2 days and then plugged it back in. The green light flashed for several hours then went off. I was able to turn on the tv but after turning it off later on it would not come back on and the green light started flashing again. I tried the same technique but it didn;t work. I am a certified Critical Soldering Tech so I should be able to handle any board repair.

My problem is related to model WS-55511 manufactured in Oct. 2003. First issue was with the convergence module that was repaired at a hefty sum.

Current problem is that the set won't turn on. When the reset button was engaged the green light flashed as normal and after several minutes of its self test went out. The set was then powered on and in an instant went off and the green light began flashing again.

Went as far as to unplug the unit for several hours with the same result when power was put back to the unit. Even went as far as leaving it unplugged for a month.

I have seen posts on the net that indicate that this particular set has been plagued with problems and when Mitsubishi Customer Service was contacted they didn't seem to care.

This set replaced a very reliable Mitsubishi Rear Screen that gave many years of service without a problem. I don't want to discard this set but the estimated price for the repairman to come out and pop in another board is a bit on the rediculous side.

If you have any answers on a reasonable fix please let me know.

The TV was working fine, then one day I went to turn it on and the green light was flashing and would not turn on... I unplugged it for about 10 minutes and then it worked... I turned it off later then the next day tried to turn it on and the green light was flashing again... I tried the samething again, but this time no luck, even after leaving it off for many hours, still the same results... Please let me know how I can do a home repair on it?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Apparently all Mitsubishi Wide Screen (WS model prefix) have an inherent problem. In my case I own a WS55511.

About a year ago the convergence circuit went bad and cost me $400.00 to fix. Authorized Mitsubishi Repair Service, Ross Electronics in Cherry Hill, NJ, stated that this was common as the units were not engineered to provide adequate ventillation. They said they were replacing a board and had to special order it. Repair Ticket said a part was soldered on the board the tech took with him....Anyway that is the start. Now to the point of current problem.

Turned the set on one morning (set was working fine the night before) Picture appeared for a brief second, set shut down and the green light was flashing. After the Green Light ceased flashing I attempted to power the set up a second time. Again with same result.

I referenced the owners manual and the only help it offered was to reset the system by using a paper clip or other small object to depress the reset button on the front of the set. Again the Green Light was flashing and the set wouldn't power up.

Removed the power cord and left it out for an hour, 2 hours, day, week etc. No luck.

As the set was purchased in 2003 I was quite concerned about the problems and also was reflecting on the repairmans comment that Mitsubishi sets are not reliable since their parts are substandard.

I have placed several calls to Mitsubishi in an effort to find out (given all the posts on the internet) if there was ever a recall or technical bulletin released. Won't go into details but you can pretty well fill in the blanks.

They kept reminding me that the set was out of warranty after I had told them, up front, that I was aware of this. Obviously all sets in the class, regardless of screen size have this and other problems.

I have 99.00 no name TV's that have been performing flawlessly.

    What gives?

    Tom

Good Day, charliek1;
This a very common problem with model. Don't listen to other comments unless the use the correct replacement parts.

SYMPTOM: Power LED does not stop blinking after plug in.

CURE: replace C9B01, C9B02,C9B10, and C9B11 (1000 uFD 16V) on the DM PCB. Replace them with part # 181P734030 (680uFd 16V).

The DM Board (PCB) is located on the very left side of the TV looking from back. Caution on removing Board and note what cables you disconnect to access the Metal Shielded Board.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

I am glad to have been able to help you, and by using the proper replacement, recommend by the manufacture, your TV should not experience this failure again.

Have you looked at the DM board fix yet that's available here. http://www.fixya.com/howto/h154057-mitsubishi_dm_board_repair Check it out. If the inside of your TV set does not look like this, you will need to get the service manual to disassemble the set and get to the DM board, but use the rest of the guide to repair the board. If you are successful, you will save almost a 1000 bucks! Good Luck
