Question about Karcher 2500 PSI Pressure Washer

Won't run with float valve on

We stored for 1 year, tried to start this spring, replaced float valve and cleaned carburator. Will run with float valve off, but will only run a few seconds with float valve on.

Make sure when you put bowl back on carb the float isn't being jammed all the way up. if there is an o ring sealing the carb bowl shoud be no problem. don't know what type engine your talking about.

Gas run out of carberator when running


Hi james
Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your caburetor jets,fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible.
Check/Clean/Replace your Air Filter, a dirty air filter can make your engine run to rich with fuel.
Also be sure to check and clean your spark arrestor in the exaust,if you have one installed on your engine.
Note: ALWAYS USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR JETS AND PASSAGES, VERY IMPORTANT.
Note:Before you disassemble the carburetor:
Write down on a piece of paper or take a picture of how the linkage attaches to your carburetor for later reference when you go to reinstall your carburetor.
Mark each piece with a awl, or some kind of instrument that will make an alignment scratch before you disassemble the carburetor into separate pieces.
That way you will know which way it goes back together when you reassemble it.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or by using a very small shot of starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that, and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.
Check you fuel line condition after a while they will degrade and need replacment.
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank of chainsaws and weedeaters.
When you remove your fuel lines from the carburetor be sure to make a drawing to how the lines are connected to the carburetor or take a pictue for later reference.
Normally the big line will be the line the fuel filter is connected to inside of the tank.The smaller of the two lines is the return to the fuel tank from the carburetor after it is pumped thru the carburetor by the primer bulb.
Make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil if your using a two cycle chainsaw or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture...too much oil as it can cause hard starting and excessive smoking.
If the chainsaw/trimmer is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit,because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
The diaphgram may look good and flexible, but it can be deceiving and not act as a fuel pump as it should because it has become too hard and will cause hard starting,start and run and shut off, etc.
When you clean your carburetor, I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use COMPRESSED AIR to blow out all the fuel and air passages.The higher air pressure is needed to blow some of the trash/debris from the fuel or air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit, or you could also ask the parts man that you get your kit from.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.
Note:
The little spring inside of the carburetor goes under the float arm.
That is where your fuel inlet needle/float valve is located...on the arm at the end.
Normally there is a small indention in the carburetor base and a small protrusion on the underneath of the float arm where the spring will be in the right postion for installation.
The spring will set in the indention and you will install the float arm with the needle/float valve and float rod into position over top of the spring,you will push down until it is in position and then you can tighten the screw that holds the float arm assembly in position.
Once you have your carburetor cleaned/rebuilt that should solve your problem.

My dewalt dpd3300 ,why is it getting gas in the oil


This happens when the gas needle valve in the carburator sticks open. With it open, gas continues to flow into the carburator then into the cylinder and finally down into the crankcase. It can be caused by dirt in the needle valve's seat, a stuck needle or float. Most of the time you can remove the float bowl and flush out any dirt. If there's a lot you should consider flushing the gas tank and check your gas can for dirt. If the washer has been sitting for a long time the problem could be varnish is gumming up the carb works. Carb cleaner works well to flush that out. If the float, needle or seat is damaged you'll have to rebuild or replace the carb.

Honda presure washer is mixing gas in the oil of engine


Usually if gas is getting into the motor oil it is because the float valve isn't closing in the carburator when the float bowl is full and gas keeps on flowing into the cylinder and down into the crankcase. This can be caused by any peice of dirt or foreign matter getting between the needle valve and the seat so it can't close. It can also be because the float is damaged and won't float.

Why is there gas in my oil


Gas in the oil is usually indicative of a stuck float or needle valve in the carburator float bowl. If the needle valve is stuck open, gas will flow from the float bowl into the cylinder and then the crankcase even if the motor is not running. You should check that there isn't anything in the float bowl that prevents the float and needle valve from moving freely and that the needle seat isn't damaged or dirty.

When I start my pressure washer on full choke it works fine when I place choke in wide open position gas runs out of the carburetor.what could be wrong.the engine issas by Briggs and Stratton.


You need to take the float bowl off the carb from the bottom . You haven't given a lot of information about who did what to the carburator but somebody must have screwed with the float pisition for this to be happening . The way all carburtors work is the same you have the float bowl and the floats and on top of the floats is a valve called the needle valve. Now the neddle valve is there to stop the flow of fuel into the float bowl when the engine is not in a high damand cycle for fuel like start up or ideal the choke shuts the air off and gives more fuel at start up .However when the engine is running and the float bowl is being filled by gravity feed from the gas tank the floats will move up do to the amount of fuel in the float bowl and should shut the fuel from the gas tank off to the float bowl until the engine can burn the fuel and drop the float level enough to make the neddle valve open again to supply more fuel for the engine to run correctly its a never ending cycle . You need to adjust the floats and likely clean the carburator don't mess with adjustments there mostly automatic when the engine is running

Try watching Youtube videos on how to clean a small engine carburetor. Stored small engines get gummed up and a simple cleaning of the carb and fuel flushing may be all that is needed. Usually I need to remove the carb and the float bowl. If the fuel is orange / brown in the bowl it is a sure sign a good cleaning is in order. The float pin needs to move freely and the jet orifice needs to be cleared. Get a can of carb cleaner and spray and wipe all gummed deposits until clean. Note, take a picture of linkage connections, gasket positions, springs and screw sizes and locations in case you get distracted before completing re-assembley if you have a camera on your phone. If not, stay sober and complete asap.

Will not start floods if chock is used


sounds like the float in the carb bowl is stuck in the fully open position.
Try useing a high end gas/carburator cleaner in the fuel, let it run for a couple of minutes and then shut it off and let it sit for a couple of days. Then lightlly tap the carburator housing with the plastic or wooden handle of a screw driver. This may free up the stuck float.
If this doesn't work, you may have to remove the float bowl cover on the bottom of the carb and free up the float manually.

Sounds like the float my be partially stuck closed. It allows enough fuel to run a few seconds then the engine uses it faster than the float lets the fuel back in. I would remove the float bowl and flip the float up and down a few times to make sure it is free and try it again.

Honda GCV160 5.5 on a pressure washer runs only intermittently


The problem is the plastic float in the carburetor, it's not adjustable and after sitting up with gas in it it distorts. Save yourself the trouble and buy a new one, you can get them online for $15-$20.
