Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

In-Dash Stereos The BestBuy website enables you to enter your car information and their system will tell you what In-Dash Decks will fit into your car and what ones wont. Does this mean that it is virtually impossible to fit a certain deck into your car if says "Does Not Fit" or would it just be a matter of having them buy some extra template pieces? My main problem is that I would like to have a deck with a touchscreen monitor that slides out but none will "Fit" into my Chrysler Sebring. Thanks for the help!

What is EC code in kenwood a.c ?

  1. If your car battery died, your Kenwood stereo will ask you for a code. There are various ways to enter the security code; this depends on the model of your Kenwood stereo.
  2. Look in your manual and see what the security code is for your particular Kenwood stereo. There are common security codes on many Kenwood stereos. Kenwood claims security, but its stereos have many of the same security codes. Here are three common security codes: 1-2-3-4 (a code many Kenwood owners use), 3-0-5-1 (a common security code in Kenwood manuals) and KCAR (works on some Kenwood stereo models). You should have a code within the pages of your manual. Luckily, many Kenwood stereos have the same security codes.
  3. Enter the security code into your Kenwood radio. Method #1: During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the "Volume UP" or "DOWN" key for three seconds until the " ... " display disappears. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Method #2: Press the "Auto" and "Track Up" button on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Method #3: Press and hold the "One" then the "Six" preset keys until the display shows the letter "C." Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
  4. Tips:
  • If you did not have your manual, try the most common codes for Kenwood stereos. If those codes don't work, you can also buy your Kenwood stereo code online. There are places online that will sell you the security code to your Kenwood stereo.
  • Keep your security code and this information in a safe place.

Stereo stopped working will not turn back on

Many car stereos use an anti-theft pass-code scheme. If the stereo is removed from the vehicle, lock-off is triggered by the loss of battery power to the stereo, and the only way to get it to turn on is to enter the pass-code on the front panel buttons. If you had to disconnect the battery, or it went completely dead on you, that's your problem. Check the manual for your stereo for details.

Note: some stereos requiring entering the pass-code before disconnecting the battery - for those who might have such systems, save yourself some grief and check your user's manual ASAP so you are prepared.

Another possibility is a shorted speaker amplifier has blown the radio fuse. Check the speaker wiring for damaged insulation before you install the repaired or replaced stereo. A competent electronic technician can generally check the amplifier modules or transistors for shorts and replace them as needed. Be sure to ask which speaker output is bad so you know which one needs a wiring check.

86 chevy dash

I had an older chevy with the small in dash decks. The after market decks are placed under the dash as they will not fit where your radio is now. Spend the few bucks and have it professionally installed (best buy or future shop) are good and reasonable

I have a radio in a truck i bought and the battery died. the guy gave me a code and i cant get it to take in the radio any help would be appreciated

Kenwood car stereos are protected against theft by four digit security codes. If a thief steals a Kenwood car stereo, they will not be able to use the stereo until they enter the secret for digit security code.
Unfortunately, many legitimate owners are also locked out of their Kenwood car stereos due to these security codes. This typically happens to people who buy used cars from people who forget to share the security code. However, it also happens to people who simply forget their security codes after several years.

A Security Code Bug in Some Kenwoods There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.
In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.

I bought my alpine radio from bestbuy and it wont work. i connected all the wires and everything but there is one connector that doesnt fit anyu where. so im wondering what do i do now?

Check that the fuse in fusebox is not blew, If blew make sure wiring is correct before replacing as if not it will blow again, Wiring diagrams are provided with all new stereos and most of them have cables to just plug in and go rather than messing with any wiring which is a lot simpler if yours didn't come with one of these cables go to your local auto store and ask for radio cable for your specific make/model and one will be provided which Simply slots onto current connection and will allow after market radios to be fitted without rewiring the whole thing.

Car radio removal

I would go to the Metra electonics website (www.metraonline.com) and go to the products page. On this page you can enter the year, make, and model vehicle to get information on what parts are needed for replacing the car stereo. The Metra dash kit number for this car is 99-3302 for single DIN radios and 95-3302 for double DIN head units. They have another kit for this car which is listed on their site as 99-3303. If you look up the kit, you can download or view the pdf document (http://documents.victorytechnologies.com//documents/product/3548.pdf) for the instruction manual and they will tell you in there how to take apart your dash step-by-step. I hope this information was helpful.

Aux Input on Back?

Aux input on the back depends if there was a aux button on the front and the brand of deck. If one is there then you dont need Best Buy to do it. removing the deck is not as hard as people make it seem. The best way to remove the deck to check is find a manual for removal; exp: chiltons, hayne or even get it from crutchfield. Be careful though, some decks may have the aux button and a 3.5mm jack in the back but the jack is sometimes used for a remote. So get the mauals for the deck you have and the manual for removal.
