Fridge HOT to touch. Hot air coming from back of GE Side by Side stainless steel

Here is a tip that I wrote about the reasons why the sides and/or seals couldbe getting hot on your refrigerator.

Change the motherboard as GE had problems with these.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp. The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

On some units the condenser coils are built just inside the side of the fridge to save space....this will cause the side to become very hot...

One you can to try and extend the life of the fridge is to vacuum off the compressor and coils. They can be located either behind the toe grill on the bottom front or through an opening on the back of the fridge. It is natural for a fridge to blow warm air.

I recommending unplugging the fridge, taking off the back panel, and at looking in there. I was having the same symptoms, overheating panel between the doors on our side by side. Ends up that a mouse was stuck in the fan and stalled it out. Fortunately (at least so far), once I removed the mouse and plugged back in, the fan started back up.

try to clean all dust and pet hair out of coils there located at bottem or back of fridge. make sure there are no obstructions for air flow the coild expell heat. and unpluging for 3 or so hours may help if you resently moved the fridge.

Folow these steps. It's worth a try.
1.Pull the fridge out from the wall and unplug it.
2. Clean the dust and lint off the compresser and everything else.
3. Also clean under the fridge.
4. The frame around the freezer door should cool down.

If the cooling fan was stuck , that may also be a cause for your refrigerator wall becoming hot.Check that too.
