Hi

Firstly make sure that the wireless switch is turned

and if it is not connecting properly you could right click the wireless icon in the task bar
go to the properties of it then delete it

then in a few seconds windows will show you a notice saying that wireless connections are available

so back to the connection click connect then reenter the code/key and hopefully that will do the trick

good luck

Cant get wireless on my advent modena red

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key)To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Hi. i'm trying to get my girlfriends notebook(advent 4213) connected to the net. i am using my own wireless net but when i click on the net it comes up saying this page cannot be displayed. do i h

If the Advent notebook normally connects to the internet without problem on her network, then you need to check the following:

1. That she does not have any proxy connection setting in her web browser that you do not use on your own network.

2. Check that her wireless adapter is configured to Obtain an IP address automatically and also Obtain DNS server address automatically.

3. Check the status of the wireless adapter connection and ensure that the Advent notebook has been given a valid IP address, i.e. if your are connecting to a wireless router on your network, you should see an address something like 192.168.x.x where the x.x depend on how your router is setup. If you see a 168.x.x.x address then the notebook is not getting a valid, routable IP address and you should try to do a Repair of the network adapter connection. Repair may also be shown as Diagnose and repair depending on which version of Windows is used.

The wifi on my nintendo ds lite doesn't work even though i changed the settings to WEP ..i dont know if the wep key i type in on my DS is wrong because when i type in the wep key shown on the netgear...

Welcome to Fixya

First you need to check is if the WEP key that you are entering is the WEP key of your router. Try to connect a laptop to your computer which do not belong to the network. Say, your friends laptop. This laptop will ask for a security key if it's the first time to connect to the network. Enter your security key and see if the laptop can connect to the network. If it did not connect then the problem is your WEP key.

Have a good one!

Cant get wireless on new netbook

The info you have so far is correct. The WEP is your network's security key. It's just like the key to your front door. If you have it, you can get in. The WEP was set when your network was set up. Usually it's a 5 letter word which when encrypted comes out to 10 letters.
Dial in to your router by typing 192.168.1.1 in your browser(Internet Explorer) window. Enter the user name, "admin" & the password, "password". Go to the router security page and there you will see all the information about your network. At the bootom left of the page is the security WEP information. There are four keys encrypted from the original word. The trick is in knowing which of the 4 keys was used. I guess you'll have to try them one by one. Most usually it's key #1, so its a relief if it is. Write the keys on a piece of paper and logout.
When you boot your netbook, it will look for all available networks in your area. Your router will be broadcasting its SSID (network name). Choose your netswork & click "connect". You will be asked for a WEP and you can now type in the ten letters. The netbook will now go ahead a connect up. If it doesn't, try the next WEP key on your list.

I dont know how to change the SSID Name and WEP Key.

You have to change it in the printer settings, not in the router! Otherwise you'll lose connectivity in all the other computers that use this router.
The SSID is the name you gave to your wireless network, and the WEP key is the password you set for your wireless connection.

Pc doesnt connect wirelessy but liks with hard wire

It is a clear cut issue of security but dont worry
First of all the wep key is a 10 digit no if 64 bit wep or 26 bits if it is 128 bit wep.
You have to enter the numbers not any passphrase that you entered in your router
Now I assume that you know how to go to the router set up page by entering your default gateway address in the address bar.
Now change the channell to 6 or 11 which will give you the best signal strenght .
Now the main reason it is not connecting is because you have not deleated the preffered networks.
So the network name identified by your computer dosent have a network key so it misinterprets and cannot detect and also after setting security signal drops so changeing channell is very important.
On your wireless PC go to wireless network connections -- properties -- deleate the preffered networks ----- press ok---- Refresh network list ---- click your network ---click connect ---- enter security key (numbers please) ---- connect .
For your e71 do the same .deleate preffered networks and reconnect .
This should help and if there is any problem do let me know .

No WEP capabilities...

WEP encryption is not very safe and will be less in use in the future. Anyway, you have to determine, if WEP 64 bit or WEP 128 bit is used (26 digits), mostly it is set to 128 bit.
If the connection fails, try to input the key with WZC (Windows Zero Configuration) instead via the interface-software from the manufacturer. If the service WZC is started (important!), you have a tab in the properties of the adapter to make the configuration with conf.less win connection, you only have to put in the right key.
