Question about Canon PowerShot S30 Digital Camera

Need disassembly guide for the SD750

I dropped my camera a couple times and it had survived until one day I realize (not right after the drop) there's some loose part. When I shake it there's a noise like something is loose inside. I turned it on and it turned on fine.. but about a minute or 2 after that it just died. The LCD went out and there's no sign of life. The zoom lens is in an extending position. I reseat/replace the battery but it didn't help.. It's completely dead - no power. So I tried to take it apart but seems like the front cover doesn't want to come off. In the process, I shook the camera and 2 screws fell off (no more noise when I shake it) but I have no idea where they came from.. I would like to get a disassembly guide or instructions to see if I can find where the screws belong. Any suggestions.. I need a disassmbly guide for the S30. i turned on my camera and it worked just fine. But it randomly just turned itself off and the lens is still extended. i shook it and heard something loose. I opened it up to find whatever was loose but now can't put it back together. If I could get help as to how to fix my problem and then put it back together correctly, that would be great!

SOURCE: Need disassembly guide for the SD750

Hi

Canon does not provide parts diagrams, even to camera repair businesses such as myself so I can't help you out with that.

I can tell you that the screws probably shorted out your fuse and that's why the camera will not turn on.

With the screws out of the sides and bottom, the two case pieces will separate at the top if you just pry them apart. As for where the screws go... hard to say, but you can probably see where they are from once you get it open.

Good luck from

It can be very expensive...up to $200+ You can try to buy a broken camera on ebay for parts and try to replace the screen yourself. There are sites on the internet to guide you if you google the words "DIY digital camera repair".

Dropped SD750 on floor, now won't turn on

That's a hard one to analyze through email. A camera tech would have to use test equipment on it to see if the power section got shorted when the door opened when it hit the floor. It may not be a cheap or easy fix, but only a tech can tell. I have heard of cameras getting damaged, just from putting batteries in backwards, so a short circuit might have damaged a chip inside. Of course a warranty does not cover dropped cameras, but you might want to have them look at it and tell you what it will cost.

I just dropped my Canon SD750 and now it won't turn on. Is there a reset button?....or am I out of luck?

I had a Cannon EasyShare CX7000 many years ago, had the same problem exactly, Canon cameras are not that durable when it comes to dropping it, but I have a Cannon Powershot SD1000 and I have dropped it numerous times and it still functions like it's new. three words REPLACE YOUR CAMERA. oh, and there is no reset button, you are out of luck

Will not power on.

The most common fault on a piece of kit that has been dropped is that the solder lead will snap on the heaviest component. Usually the battery or a capacitor, resoldering will fix the problem. However disassembly is the difficult bit
