I am trying to connect to my friend's wireless router that we have in our apartment. This message always comes up...wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network. It also says this is a "hidden" network. What can I do?

I can't log in to 192.168.1.1 to change any settings. It just comes up with an error message.

Hi Friend,

Make sure that you have connected each and evry cable/wire to their respective ports/places. Push and hold the reset button (at the back of the router) for 30 seconds. Turn off the router for another 30 seconds and switch it on. Once the power light is steady then perform the steps:

1. Open the web browser and type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter.
2. Type admin as username and leave the username blank.
3. If you have cable connection then select Automatic Configuration from the Internet Configuration drop down and if you have DSL (dial up)connection then choose PPPoE from the drop down and enter the username and password provided by your service provider. Click Save Settings.
4.Now click Wireless and fill the fields as mentioned:
*Wireless Mode: Mixed
*Wireless Network Name: Any name as per your choice.
*Wireless Channel:6-2.437GHz
*Wireless broadcast:Enable and click Save Settings.
5. Click Wireless Security and fill the fields:
*Security Mode: WPA Personal
*WPA Algorithm:TKIP
*WPA Shared key: Any ten digit number.
*Group Key:3600 and click Save settings.

Turn off the router for 30 seconds and switch it on. Use the WPA shared key whenever you want to connect any wireless device to the router.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

My son has an xbox 360 with an xbox Live account it works fine except when he tries to go online from his friends houses apparently it comes up There's a problem with the credentials your using to sign in...

Hi. This must be the router password that xbox is trying to connect. Your home routers password is basically saved to your xbox logon credentials. If the xbox will connect to another wireless router and sees that the password he knows is not the password that was save inside the console then you will be getting that error message. Solution is type the password of your sons friends router then this will solve the issue.

My pc connects automatically with my netgear router. How do i get my friend's pc do connect to my router? My pc never asks for a password but my friend's does and I don't recall having set a password....

Your wireless network must be secured. You must have entered the password when yu tried to connect to the wireless networ at the first time. The password is saved on your computer. that's why it is not asking you for the password. Now you will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
There must be a computer online using the router. On that computer open the set up page of the router. On this page you will fisn all the wireless settings of the router.
