When coping get a black line down copy

    When you are trying to make a copy the color is all distorted and there is lines throughout the paper

If you are copying trough a sheet feeder or document feeder, you will need to clean a thin glass **** from where the documnet is scanned for copying.

We have an HP Color Laserjet 2840 printer in our office. We were low on our black ink drum, bought a new drum and installed it. Copies are coming out perfectly but the "replace black...


The 2840 is a slightly different sort of machine when it comes to supplies. There is a main imaging drum unit which works for all four colors, and then there of course are the 4 colors. If the unit was asking for a drum unit then you should have instaled a Q3964A. It is entirely possible that your drum unit and black cartridge both expired at the same time, in which case, you need a black toner cartridge now.

Hp 2840 prints color line on left hand side of paper


What is the color of the line?
If it's blue, replace the cyan cartridge. If it's red swap out the magenta. Do the same for the yellow and black.

The Drum unit is worn or defective. try another drum unit. this should take care of your problem.If it's new then get your money back and replace it.

Black line when making copies


A line down a paper on either a printer or scanner is classic sign of scratched drum. The certainty of it is in the fact the line is at the same place each time. Drum needs to be replaced.

Paper jamming


Reset printer first. Meny > go to Service > choose Restore default, if issue remains try upgrade firmware.
