Yes +5v present. Still in standby - inverter does not toggle with 'on' switch.

Thanks - I was afraid that was the case!

    You should also have +5v.

Did you measure the voltages with the TV on?

Hi,
On main board (central one covered by heatsink), Measure on cold start voltage at tab of U42 if less than 1.75V replace U42 (You need a decent multimeter for this measurement.).
If you also have/had scrambled picture issues check C414 (470uF16V) near LVDS on main board.
Good luck...

If all the voltages appear normal, I would suspect a main failure because in many LCDs the power supply will power up only after all the voltages circulates through all the circuits and check OK.
You can also have the TV connected to the main power source and press the ON and monitor the voltages at the moment you press the ON button.

Hi.

The TV stays in standby because protection circuit kicked in.

Protection kicks in when an internal fault had been detected.

In your case the SCART cable may have caused a short.

When on protection the TV will stay in standby, will not respond to buttons or remote, and will not start up.
All higher voltages from PSU get shut down by controller board, and only the +5V remains on.

To attempt resetting the TV, disconnect all video cables, disconnect the power cord, wait about one hour and plug it back.

If TV does not restart, then there may be an internal fault.

In that case leave TV unplugged for longer, just in case.

If still no luck, then call Sony to discuss a repair. The number is listed on your owner manual.

If instead TV will restart, do not use the faulty video cable again, this can damage your TV.

It wont turn on its stuck on stand by any suggestions? when we do get the tv turned on we cant knock it off or it takes hours of fiddling with the remote standby button to get it back on the tv is a...

This sounds like the front panel assembly(FPA) switches are acting up. What happens with this model is the FPA switches start to conduct just as if someone was pressing the buttons. This in effect locks up the system control or causes it to do erratic things.
The way to determine if the FPA is bad is to remove it by unplugging from set. This requires front panel disasembly. Note:The remote will still work with the FPA removed so the set can be tested.
Let me know if you need more help or info.

I have a JVC LT-32x38 that turns on and displays an image for a second but then goes blank and outputs sounds only.

Sometimes the picture goes out but the screen is still lit(backlight on), if totally dark like TV was turned off then check voltages in the power supply board(24v, 12v, 5v) if all ok replace the inverter.

Starts up with black raster, then shuts down with LED blinking 4 times
This is the micro telling you that the auto grey-scaling procedure has failed. Change resistors R909, R913 & R922 (180k, 1%) on crt base PCB. You will probably find that all these have gone high
Standby only
Check R101 (4.7ohm), TR102 (C6180) and C126 (47uF, 16V)
Tv turns on automatically. Power supply works well, +5V present but seems that CPU (7700) does not (no standby mode), no remote or control on the front of the set
After replacing CPU (TMP47C434) and crystal 1770 (4.0MHz) both control worked intermittently. Replacing transistor 7674 (BC548) solved the problem
Will not work, standby (red) LED flashing
C604 in the 12V line is bad
Int going into standby
Replace C454 a 22nF smd, located near the Frame o/p ic.

Non Responsive 35" RCA

You are going to have to check all of the small tact switches behind the push buttons in the front of the TV set. In the past, someone may have cleaned the picture tube and the liquid dripped down onto the switches and corroded them, or one is stuck closed or the remote sensor is bad. The best way to test this would be to replace the entire switch panel in the front of the TV set. Good Luck
