How did you do the data recovery ?
i bet you put it into a desktop and did it that way ??
what you have basically done is taken the boot sector information off the hard drive. you need to get acronis boot manager or partition manager and install this as it will help restore your boot sector in your laptop and needs to be set to primary partition.

Can you open the case and remove the HDD? I looked at the specs on the device and I didn't see what interface the drive is, I would assume it's a SATA, I don't know for sure. Can you ID it? My Beyond Micr 250GB external HHD is not showing up on my PC running windows 7 and I have 2-1TB SATA HHD installed.

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use asoftech data recovery program to recover lost files.

I have a Samsung HM640JJ HDD. I bought the drive as an external in an enclosure. The drive has stopped spinning all-together. I even tried to put the HDD in my laptop but will not spin. Samsung will not...

If the hard drive can't be detected by your computer, you can try this way.
Put the hard drive in a plastic bag to be compatible for the freezer. Freezing sometimes works to revive a dying hard drive, at least for a short time(Probable just about 20 minutes), but be sure that the bag is sealed tightly so that condensation and ice crystals don't form. Put it in your freezer for 24 hours that will do the trick. While it's still cold, plug it into your computer. And you may be able to view it in 'my computer'.
If it shows up in 'my computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you can't access it,you can recover data from hard drive with data recovery program.
Tenorshare data recovery is a professional data recovery program that can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage, system sabotage, virus attack etc.You can get it here: http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm After you recover your data, you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed.
If it fails, you will have to go to a recovery office where supply data recovery service but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money and whether they can recover data is not guaranteed.

Lost NTFS partition on my WD1600BEVT, how do you restore so I can use again?

Depends on what you did to "lose" the partition-table.

Download the free 'PTEDIT.ZIP' file -- it is a "partition-table editor".
UNZIP it on a different computer, and extract the 'PTEDIT.EXE' program.
Run PTEDIT on your computer, and update the partition-table.

My Samsung 1.5 TB external hard drive spins up and makes about 5 clicking sounds. My laptop cannot detect it. What can I do to recover the data.

A clicking sound for samsung drive is most like due to faulty heads and the only way to recover data off it is to perform a head swap. You need to buy a compatible donor online like ebay. If you don't know how to do this, i suggest you send it to data recovery company, as this is a very dangerous procedure. It can cause severe damage on your hard drive if you perform it without any knowledge and the right tools to do it.

hope it helps.

Solve Your "Imation Odyssey HDD Cartridge

Do you have more than one of the cartridge drives?

If you do, a simple test is try another drive, if they both failed to respond in a similar fashion the bay has issues and may need to be replaced. If the other drive works properly in the bay that cartridge or drive inside is likely the problem and will need to be sent for data recovery if you need the files back or just scrapped for a new unit if there's nothing crucial on it.

If you require data recovery, comment back with your Country, State and City and I will be happy to recommend a nearby facility that can help you out.

Samsung 250GB HD250HJ

Hey, congratulations on successfully installing the harddive.

Since its brand new, there is no volume in the disk (no partition and not formated)

To create a new volume and format the disk for the first time

on desktop, right click my computer icon, select manage from the menu, on the left side of the management window click on disk management

now on the right side, find your new harddrive, right click on it (its most likely the drive 1)

so right click on the 250gb hdd, create new volume, use NTFS default settings, and you may use quick format. normal format will take from 15 minutes to a hour or more.

with quick format the disk will be useable within seconds.

after this is complete you will see a new disk in my computer.

If you need more assistance let me know, I'm here to help
Also, remember to rate the solutions :-)

Hard Disk Drive Not Detected

Does your hard drive get detected in the BIOS? If yes then you can recover data by plugging that hard drive as secondary and running a recovery application like Recover My Files.
