Try swapping out the bulbs and see what happens. There are bulbs made specifically for ceiling fans that have heavier duty filaments in the bulbs, or you could use compact fluorescents. The warning about using a solid state control was referring to using a solid state dimmer at the wall switch.

If this is a new product and it is defective, take it back to Lowe's and insist on a replacement, talk to the manager if you have to. This site will only advise you on how to fix it.
