Question about Whirlpool LTE5243D Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer

2 Answers

Dryer venting I purchased a condo that has this model of whirpool stacked washer/dryer. The dryer has no apparent venting when I look at the back and top of the dryer. Is this the normal design for this model? I notice that there appears to be a heat vent (not the lint vent) and it has a build up that looks slightly burnt. Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

The link below, will take you to the page showing that the dryer may ducted using the side exhaust kit, which is why you are unable to see it. It should be visible on the exterior of the house as a vent hood.

The burned lint on the heat screen should be cleaned and your dryer interior cleaned to prevent a lint fire. Then the vent should be cleaned to the outside. Below is link that provides pdf. format owner's manual downloads. click on your complete model number and you can download a manual for your combo unit.

The element to heat the dryer has gone out. You removed the back of the dryer to remove lint you will need to remove the back of the dryer again to access the heating element. It is in the lower left or right hand corner (depending on model) and looks like the inside of a toaster oven small thin wires. Take the assembly out (make sure the unit is unplugged always) get the model and serial # and purchase replacement from an appliance parts house.

Good Luck hope this helped you some

Can I tie two dryer vents into one vent stack . I have a condo we are remodeling and we added a dryer in one unit. I was wondering if it is legal to tie the dryer into the dryer vent from another condo

I wouldn't think it would pass code anywhere because some of the air flow from your dryer is going to find it's way back down into someone else's dryer and visa versa and if either of them are gas dryers carbon monoxide will come with it so I don't recommend you try it. It also carries lint from one to the other and that creates a fire hazard..

This is a one piece unit. It does not come apart. Use and appliance hand truck with straps to secure. You will need at least 2 people to get unit out, heavy. I used to deliver appliances.

You have a venting problem. Some makes of condo size dryers have a lint screen inside the drum at the back. Check and clean. If not then there might be a screen in the wall or the ceiling of the room the dryer is in. Trace the vent from the dryer to the wall or ceiling. There should be a vent fan in the ceiling. Try asking the condo property management if there is an exhaust fan in the wall that needs cleaning.

and yes, for that model the top is removed, clips go on the rear and screwed at the front.
in some areas it is sold seperatly as a stacking kit

It may not be your heating element. Your dryer lint vent pipe out the back of the machine or maybe out the side may be plugged. You have to pull the machine out and clear that pipe or rebuild it out to a soffit vent or static vent if it is in the attic, or out through your crawl space. This will make a huge difference. If that hot air and moisture doesn't get out of the machine it just goes back into your clothes.
Good luck!!
