Pump not working - Saeco VIA Venezia

  • damianndanic Aug 05, 2008

I had the same problem the repair shop took10 weeks to get a replacement pump from Saeco in Italy.
I noticed that the list of parts they changed included
part number: 01317801 "silicon touch pad + board dlx." this item was $105 AUD.
My question is does this part even belong on a Saeco Via Venezia?
It sounds like the electronic push buttons you find on more expensive machines but the VV is very simple.

I originally got a VV about a year ago and it worked great until one day almost no water would go through the filter, and the espresso that came out was really thin and tasteless. After cleaning the machine, it still didn't work, and we got a replacement from Starbucks. The replacement was working fine until just a few days ago, when I started having the same problem. How do you tell if it's the pump itself that's broken?

Hi,

Can you start the machine?

If not, then you have to reset the termal on the machine.

You have to take of the top, after that you have to find the termal on the element that have a little pin in the middle and push it.

Keurigs with Side tank not pumping water

Those of you having a pumping problem with the Keurigs with side maounted tanks. It seem that the screen in the base when you liftout the tank you can see it, has a tendency to vapor lock due to the small mesh and pump height. I corrected this by putting 4 larger holes in the screen which is plastic with a pointed object just be careful not to go to far down or you will puncture the hose for the pump. After doing so I have not had a problem with my pump supplying water for the last 2 weeks to the heat tank, if your pump is not humming or working this will not work. This is a fix for those that remove the tank and set it back and the pump works when this is done you are forcing water through the screen breaking the vapor lock so try it, if it works fine

Hi, I haven't used my machine for 3 years. I bought it brand new and for some odd reason its not working now. The steamer works fine, however espresso does not come out after I insert pod and switch on...

EXPLANATION: It is normal at that type of machines when they stay long unused you may have trouble with pump. The pump has 2 non return valves, very small and very sensitive ones. If they don't work properly the piston of pump cant pump watter for brewing coffee. SOLUTION: 1 - You should replace the pump, it will provide pressure and you will be able to get coffee from coffee brewing outlet 2 - (in case you cant get new pump fast enough) You open the pump carefully, the non return valves are in outlet part of pump. Before opening you can try blowing with compressed air = 4 bar (5-10 seconds) many times that helps to get in order the valves without opening pump.

I can hear the pump working but my Barista Athena isn't working

My father gave me the machine as it was sitting in his basement. It is out of waranty so when it didnt work I took the cover off to have a look. The pump obviously was the culprit. I took the pump out of the machine and took it to a shop that repairs Serco machines (they made these). The new pump cost me $CDN 65.00 and voila it was working again. The tech said the mechanism probably got dried out inside. You can find the pump on the internet (Ulka EX5).
Just make sure you take off the right angle connector at the end of the pump that leads to the boiler, you will not get this piece. It also doesn't matter if you get the one that has a plastic part coming out of the pump instead of the copper one on the factory installed unit.

I also found this blog, read further down to see how to take the pump apart and clean it. http://ulkapumprepair.blogspot.com/

I havent used my breville die cast in abotu 6 months and now that ive turned it on the pump wont work, what can i do?

The scale and dirt inside vibrating pump have dry out and keep the pump stuck. If your hands are capable you desasemble the pumb clean all the parts with a metal brush and put them back together 90% the pump will work perfect again. Their are 10% that the coil of the pump to be burn out then you will need a new pump

Espresso maker doesn't work properly

It is clear that there is a problem with water supply. Check if pump works, if it does, there is blockage in water supply to pump. Check and clean.

The pump is on the right side, has two wires coming out of it, and is connected to the check valve with a silicone hose. When you run a cycle, to brew a cup of coffee, that pump should be pumping air out, which pushes the hot water out of the tank.

So to test it, disconnect the hose and run a cycle to listen and feel for air coming from the pump. If it is not working (frozen due to the water permitted to enter from the failed check valve), you must remove it to dismantle the top part of the pump.

Getting the pump out is a little tricky... as you will see. There is only one philips head ***** holding it in, however, it is not easy to get to. I used a 90 degree angled *****driver, which worked well, after trying many other options.

Once you get it out, remove the three philips head *****s on the top of the pump right near where the hose was connected. Then separate the two sections of the pump. Inside there will be a fitting in the center that spins to actuate the pump. This fitting must be freely moving. If it is not, use WD-40 or a similar product to free the motor.

Clean up all the WD-40 from inside the chamber (so your coffee does not taste like oil) and reassemble. Then test it by running a cycle. The pump should now be working, if not repeat the process until the pump operates.

Since my last post, I have fixed another B100 that had the same issue. Keurig will not sell you a replacement pump or check valve, so you must repair that pump.

Good Luck, I hope this works for you. Erik
