Question about KitchenAid KSRS25IL Side by Side Refrigerator

Kitchenaid refrigerator stopped cooling

Side by side, 6 years old. Was running loudly for several weeks and now has stopped cooling/freezing all together. Lights are on...can hear something that sounds like a fan but not loud. Slightly cool air coming out from the bottom vent. I want to get this repaired but fear it could be costly...it's going to be $150 just for the repair tech to walk in my house and look at it! What could it be?

Yes, it will cost you at least $150.00 for a repair tech to walk to your house, but your case sounds like your motor had problem, When the motor running loudly for several weeks, because it lack Freon R-22, that why made a loudty noise, some place is leaking very slowly, your compressor need freon. I think it is going to cost you at least several hundred to repair it, but if you can find a used working Reg.probably you can save some money.

Please ask your friend who might give you some their opions.

Any parts house will have the part . If you had put the model number in , I could have given you the part number . When you go to get the part , take the model number with you . Only 2 or 3 wires connect to the overload/relay , so is very simple to replace . It usually 'breaks' due to dirty coils , power surges , power off then on at a rapid rate , or time .

make sure the return air is open, that is a vent on the side wall of the refrigerator above the crispers on the center mullion. and check to see if the evaporator fan motor is running.
