Question about HP DeskJet 695c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Hp 695c i hardly ever use the color ink in the printer. i know it is not out of ink. now the printer will not allow me to print because all the sudden it is saying "color ink is installed improperly". Why? I haven't used it? Do I have to spend money on more color ink even though I don't use it?

Try taking the cartridge out and putting it back in. sometimes this makes the printer think you have changed the cartridge and it works.

How can i check which ink are out

Your printer should have come with a disk. This disk would have installed the necessary program that runs printing jobs, as well as keeps track of the ink level. Locate this program on your computer (may be under All Programs, Accessories under the Start Menu).
If not, Go into the Control Panel: (see below)
carsandcomps_3.jpg

Above, you see "Hardware and Sound"; and below that shows "View Devices and Printers. Click on this. It will then bring you into the below dialogue box, of which shows any and all printers currently installed and which are being used. (see below)

carsandcomps_4.jpg

Once you have located your printer here - (name etc). Go into your Start Menu: In the Search Box at the bottom type "programs"; look for the words "show which programs are installed on your computer", should be the fourth in the list. Below is what the list will look like. Find your printer here to ensure it's installed.

carsandcomps_5.jpg

Once you have determined it's installed, you need to locate the printer program in your file system. Once you retrieve this, click it to open it. The program should allow you to view the ink levels. With most printers, when ink is low it will automatically open a dialogue box showing the ink levels for each cartridge. If you're printer is not equipped with this feature, then the only way to know if any need changed is when printing a document, and any color is not present.
I apologize for such a long response, as I wanted you to know how to access these files. If you are printing, and all colors appear to be present, without fading, or "blotchy" spots, then your cartridges are still good. You should be able to do a print test (calibration or alignment test) to determine this as well.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The printer's black ink cartridge won't print without the Tri-color print cartridge

Most of the HP printers are designed to allow printing onlywhen all cartridges are installed and
have ink.
Install a new tri-color ink cartridge and printing will continue as usual.
My printer, which is HP, does the same thing as yours, until I replace the empty cartridge,
printing stops.

Hello. How do you clean the cartridge as it is a little dried up for printer HP PSC 1210 all in one printer?

Ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice-versa. If you printed with a color missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That's why most printers won't allow you to print with a color missing even if you aren't using it.

If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty.

The best solution for you is to buy some isopropyl alcohol from chemist, which is a great solvent for dried ink, and drop 8-10 drops into the ink nozzle, put it back in and try running a few prints then repeat the process. If it doesn't help, you will be better off buying new ink cartridges.

One colour cartdridge is empty can i print black only

To print with black ink only, you have to go Print, on the window that shows up click on Preferences then select the Color tab and tick the check-box for Print in Greyscale.

But bear in mind that ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice-versa. Color in printed pictures is terrible! All HP

try going into your printers properties and look for a print quality tab. One of the tabs will allow you to change your print style on pictures. Or the HP software that came with the printer should allow you to modify the print quality.

Printing wrong color

Hi there,

You must do a deep printer head cleaning on your unit, it could be clogged and dirty and that because it will not produce or print out a proper color.

Let me know here again.

Hp psc 1210xi- the black ink cartridge appears to be out- i have a good color cartridge-how do I get the error off of my printer and print with my color cartridge?

  1. Take out the black cartridge once you've determined that you are completely out of black ink. You'll have to rely on the dark hues from the color cartridge to print in black.
  2. Adjust the printer software settings. Once you take out the black cartridge, your printer's software will typically warn you that you are missing a cartridge. Follow the instructions for your printer to allow the printer to print without the black cartridge. Then set the printer to print in black and white, not color. This overrides the black cartridge and allows the printer to access the dark hues of the color cartridge.
  3. Print a test page to ensure that your printer now prints black using the color cartridge.
  4. Print your documents. Bear in mind that your documents may not appear as black as normal. Still, they should be dark enough to pass for black, depending on how much color ink you have and the strength grade of the ink.

HP printer not printing true color all of a sudden.

Altho the cartridge is new, you may have used all of the ink of one color. Pictures take an enormous amount of ink to print and all three primary colors are used to create the hues and colors indicated on the picture. Try a new color cartridge and see if that works.

Printer goes throught the motions of printing, but what comes out is a clean page - no ink

Some of them do. Try going into the printer properties and disabling bi-directional support. This will not allow the printer to check. HP has set some printers to not function if its disabled, but hopefully yours is not one of them.
