If the software is not installed,Try reinstalling software,
If the device is faulty then only course of action is replace device with new device.
Also You can use a external usb sound card,
just load software that comes with the new device and external speakers.
Have you checked device manager to find out if there are conflicts?
Do you have SP2 Updates installed?
