Question about HP Pavilion dv8000z Notebook
Remove the ac adapter and battery. Hold the power botton down for 1 minute to discharge the system. Reconnect the ac adapter and restart the computer. If it doesn't restart then your notebook needs a new system board. Check your warranty and return to HP for repair. Remove the hard drive from the notebook if you want to keep your files intact. HP can repair your notebook without the hard drive. I bought mine 18 months ago and the system board is covered for 2 years.
