I have used four different Dell Optiplex GX270 pc's, each time the video card burns out and I am unable to recover my data. This more than frustrates me as I work in a church and have sensitive information on my hard drive. Is there any way to get this information back? I have another pc (same type) that I can swap parts into if need be. The broken pc will turn on but the monitor reads "No Signal"

There is a known issue with the dell optiplex 270's. if you open the case and see the top of the capacitors are not perfectly flat then you have an issue. I would go ahead and upgrade and invest in a good backup solution.

Frequent message - virtural memory is low, increasing memory

Many times upgrading the ram amount will correct this problem. You may also upgrade you Video card for one that has a lot more memory chips(Total Ram) on it, since you have a desk top type computer. I have included a link in case you have misplaced you manual to see the original specifications. Ram and Video cards are available on line for such places as : Newegg.com               or            Tiger.com              to name two.

Sacreen resolution problem

There are a couple of different video cards for that model. They're all listed under Video.

Dell GX270 Drivers Page

Check to see if you see either an ATI or NVIDIA sticker on your machine and that will narrow down the choices. Don't worry about downloading and installing the wrong one, nothing will happen except the machine telling you that it's not the right one.

Let me know if you get stuck and please don't forget to rate.

Best of luck!

CDDVD RW drive won't open /won't burn CD

Drive is more than likely fried. It's not uncommon to have DVD/CDRW drives or any burning drive go bad especially if you use it frequently. Check www.newegg.com for a replacement they shouldn't be more than 30 dollars for a decent model now.
