There is a pinhole in the back of the router that lets you reset EVERYTHING. The router does not have proxy settings enabled by default. If you reset it, you have to change all the security settings and such back to what you had. Also you have to be connected to it with a hardware in order to change anything in the settings.
you might have to uninstall both the dvd/cd + its drivers then reinstall them actually unplug the cd/dvd from its power cable then restart your computer plug it back in your computer should activate found new hardware or control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall hope this helps
It is probably time for a replacement. We've found that we routinly replace linksys wireless routers after about 1 year or service usually no more than 2 before they die. Usually the wifi section slows, then become intermittant and finally stops working.
About the only thing you can do is do a hard reset. This will reset it back to factory defaults so you have to setup everythign again. Push and hold the reset button for about 10-20 seconds. That will then restore it to the way you had it new from the store. Having said that usually this will at best temporally fix it or do nothing. It is worth a try but don't forget a new router is maybe $40 so don't get too worried about fixing it.
you can goto start button, run, then type, msconfig
then startup uncheck if its listed ... that will get rid of the error probly if that doesnt work goto control panel add remove programs and uninstall the linksys program and reinstall it from a cd or download the latest version will probly fix the error

Most cable Internet Service Providers (ISP) use a Media Access
Control (MAC) Authentication to establish Internet connections for
end-users. A MAC address is assigned a unique 48-bit (6-byte) integer
that is attached to an Ethernet NIC for each computer. To set-up your
Linksys gateway to a Cable ISP, you have to do MAC Cloning. MAC Cloning
is a procedure which enables a gateway to copy the MAC Address of the
PC that’s registered with the ISP. To setup a Linksys gateway with Cable connection you need to perform five steps:
Verifying Internet Connection
Connecting Devices Together
Checking the Gateway’s LEDs
Configuring a Linksys Gateway for a Cable Connection
Marcia...............Is this a small home system here. Was this an onsite tech. ISP is Internet Service Provider and not so sure that is the issue. WOW this can get confusing. Perhaps this tech can redo his work for sake of your time. An adapter does allow the ISP to see how many PCs you are using.
Sorry Marcia .................Really would be nice if Mr. Tech could reassist you on this.
