The power supply it is fine, what is gone is the Lacie control card, inside the caddy you need to replace the caddy, extracting the HDD from inside the Lacie, I will see if I can find some vendor fo Lacie caddy.

Here is an example of lacie caddy, generally you should check if the disk is PATA or SATA, and buy the correnspondent caddy enclosure.
You can buy enclosures of not LaCie brand, they will work the same, providing that they support same (pata or sata) kind of drive.

Here is Lacie website, contact them if you want to buy original LaCie caddy enclosure. I suggest buying a good caddy enclosure (not the cheapest one) from your local computer shop, it will work the same.

the caddy is the external enclosure withouht the hard disk (that is the most expensive part), it is just the box +power adapter. I it cost far less than the whole external disk.
The replacement job is quite easy, it consists in removing 4 screws, accommodating the hard disk unit inside the enclosure (open) box, screwing hard disk to box (4 more screws), and connecting the hard disk power and data cable, then you close the box.
Precautions: never work with power connected, do not touch directly any electronic board or component.
    Not too difficult.
If you buy the caddy enclosure in a small computer shop, sometime they do the mounting job for free or for a cheap price, as it takes approx 10 mins.

First is written on top of the box, and on manual. Sometimes is writte on the plaque at the bottom of Lacie disk.
If you cannot find info, once you open the box you see the cable, PATA is big flat ribbon cable with wide connector, SATA is smaller.

Some LaCie is sealed with a thin plastic strip from inside use a credit card or a plastic knife to remove it, Here come some tip.
In any case the only important thing when you take it apart is not to damage the driver, as the enclosure board is already faulty in your case.

Here you find a bigger choice of Hard disk cases, best choice will probably buying at a local shop, so that you do not risk to buy the wrong one. The part is not expensive.

Lucie power supply issues.

Just take the hard drive out the caddy and use it in another caddy. It will be easier and cheaper than fixing the caddy.

If rebooting or a complete factory reset did not solve the issue, I believe your ROM or other electronics may be defective. I had a similar issue with a D-Link router several years ago, probably due to a power surge.

Suddenly turned off without warning Sony KDS-50A2000

All you need is to open the back cover of the television and check on for dry soldering at the power stage of the printed circuit board, also check for bulged capacitors, if found replace with same rating of voltages , but if otherwise Ur power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics’ and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get ur tv power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like, to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this helout, Good luck....

My lacie hard disk 1tb all of a sudden isnt

Just contact great support. their answer for my drive was to reboot the drive. For me it worked.

Follow the procedure below to reset the Network Space to factory defaults:
  1. Move the power switch to the OFF position. Wait for the drive to shut down.
  2. Turn ON the drive.
  3. Within about 3 seconds, flip the switch OFF and On several times.
  4. Immediately turn it ON
If the light flashes quickly, the unit is resetting itself. Attempt to connect to the drive again after about 1 minute using the default username and password (by default, they are both admin.)

My Mac suddenly cannot find my Lacie external storage device. I have turned off, unplugged, restarted... etc. and it is still not finding it. The Lacie seems to be on, at least the blue light is...

A continuous flashing light on a Lacie drive is a notification of a problem. I do wonder if the light is flashing the same if the drive is plugged in to the Mac or unplugged.

Lacie external drives tend to have power-supplies which become weak/bad. Most users replace the supply and it will work again for awhile until the supply dies again. Try bringing the drive to a retail dealer with Lacie drives -ask them if you can just test your drive with another power-supply (if you do not have another). You can also try calling Lacie, it's always slightly possible they will be aware of this problem.

Alternately, IF the light is only flashing when the drive is plugged-in to the computer, try using a different USB or Firewire cable.

When plugged in, icon doesn't appear on the desktop.

We have a few of these Lacie Design by F.A. Porsche 500GB drives in our office. Our editor's drive stop working this morning (was fine the day before) and had all her files backed up from the last three years on it and was making a very soft clicking sound. After taking the whole thing apart and trying drive in another F.A. Porsche caddy with no success, we tried a different power supply hey presto it started up no problems. My drive that suddenly stop working earlier in the year we tried a power supply from a external Lacie DVD Writer and again drive is working. Just to make sure tried the original power supply and would not mount. So if your hard drive stops working it maybe the power supply rather the the hard drive.

Probolem with power cable

Power loss on a drive even if it is not transferring could be severe. Especially with Lacie gear. The bridgeboard ( which is the chip that transfers the content between the drive and the ports on the enclosure ) can fail instantainously if power varies or is cut. The major concern is if the internal drive is effected ( in the enclosure .)

Those things are cute, but not that reliable.
