I was playing my ps3 and during online play the game just shut down and the red light was present afterwards. I tried to go touch the on switch and it turned green for like 3 seconds and shut back down. And now the game continuously does this, shuts down after 3 seconds. Worst enough, I am unable to retrieve my black ops game from the ps3. What I wanna do is fix the game! My PS3 is the first version that came out and not the slim, and it has been sounding like it has overheated a few times and I think thats where the problem may have been.

Hmmmnnn, consider the reason they pulled the rev compatible system off the market. It is possible to be getting the symptoms of YLOD without it actually happening with some games. The older games spun faster(sometimes) and made the system work harder. It could be heating up and shutting down right at the point of failure. I've seen 2 different revers compatible systems YLOD the same way. Good luck.

Over heated try to move it to an open location or invest in a PS3 fan system they arent very expensive

this is called the Red Light Of Death it can be caused by the following

1.overheating
2. hardrive coruption or needs to be reset back into the system
3. the soldering on the motherboard of the console needs to be reflowed by a local repair shop that specialisez in PS3 gaming consoles

alot of people are having this problem after updating 3.01 version soon your ps3 will overheat then you will get red light flashing then green then 2 beeps then yellow light of death ylod .
i advise you now keep it ventilated dont play for hrs

hi..Seems like your Power Supply went dead or either a faulty button.. Since those are touch pads those sometimes wear out. Another issue could be due to overheating..

not a solution but a possible answer it is possibly the ylod (yellow light of death) it seems a few people are getting this and my ps3 has broke aswell even sony dont know what is wrong with it. but your problem sounds like the ylod

From what I understand its a problem with the backwards compatibililty(the engine/drive that lets you play ps1/ps2 games)on the 60g.Sony says they have never heard of this problem yet these models are no longer in production.I have had mine for 2 years and it died today,same problem.

it might be the wall plug try a different one
