Hi: I just purchased an LG External multimedia burner, Model GE24. DVD Shrink on my computer is not recognizing the burner although other programs on the computer are. Can you please tell me how I can...

Unfortunately, DVD Shrink probably does not support your LG external media burner. Some programs are built just for certain CD/DVD drives. You can probably find another program similar to DVD Shrink for free online.

That's fine, you won't need the CD, just install the burner and the computer will automatically recognize it.

Have a HP DVD 840d burner, my pc only recognizes the cd rom not the dvd burner. any help to get this to recognize my dvd burner.

If you load a commercially-produced DVD disk into the drive, does it show in "My Computer" or do you get an "insert disk" message?

If it shows, right-mouse click on the icon, and choose "Explore".
Does it show files/folders, or is there an error-message?

Wont recognize burned disk

Is the burned disk recognized in some other computer?

Is any "official" (purchased music CD, or purchased DVD video, or purchased Microsoft software) disk recognized when inserted into the device?

If you burn a disk on your computer, can your computer then read that burned disk?

Computer will not recognize external cd rom drive

Use the following link, scroll a little and click on Fix It

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Click Run in the File Download dialog box and follow the steps in the wizard

When completed restart the computer and check the CD/DVD drive

(you may need to run Fix It twice)

If it fails, there is a manual method to edit the registry. Let me know so that I can follow up further.

Acer issue: itunes wont recognize my cd burner

The DVD burner *IS* the CD burner (the same drive does both jobs). Does Windows itself recongize it? (if so, is it able to burn CD's using it?)

CD burner

Sounds like an issue with the drive. Is your computer still under warranty? If so then I would call dell and get it replaced. If not, then I would replace it myself.
